Next I suppose will be a glorification of Delawar Hossain Sayidee -- what a pious religious man he is -- sits at the Sharia council of Islami Banks (introduced to Bangladesh by Shah Abdul Hannan) and making oodles of money at each sitting. How that wise(ass) Dr M. Zafar Iqbal cannot be presented as an witness at the Tribunal because there is no proof that Sayidee killed his father in 1971. The Godless Awami League is piqued at Sayidee just because he is a man of Religion. Awami League is anti-religion. Shame! Shame! Sayidee is innocent of any crime or atrocities in 1971.
This will be followed by an enumeration of crimes committed by Sheikh Mujib 1972-75, mention of Bakshal for the umpteenth time, and another justification for the mass killing of him and his family in 1975. Thinly veiled threats against the remainder of Mujib family will follow. Then a burst of praise for Zia. We will be lectured on his love of democracy assuming we are ignorant his murdering hundreds of Air Force and Army Officers. More piyar poured for Zia and Ziar family assuming that we are morons about his wife having been estranged during 1971 Pak occupation and her luxurious living style at the cost of public money.
Followed by another trumpet trill for glory of Golam Azam ... Followed by a proclamation of wondrous achievements of Motiur Rahman Nizami. Perhaps a video clip of the philanthropic projects of Mujahid, the Jamaat Secrtary General. ( I saw one whole hr. of TV program of Mujahid's great achievements in 2006 just prior to 1/11).
Mention BAKSHAL again, and again, and issue dire WARNING to Sheikh Hasina that she too will meet the same fate as her father.
This pattern of bare-knuckle bullying spares no one with a protesting voice. This is called 'democracy' by the zia-piyaris.

পশ্চিম পাকিস্তান কর্তৃক প্রবর্তিত অভ্যন্তরীণ উপনিবেশের বিরুদ্ধে নিরলস সংগ্রাম, অসামান্য জনসমর্থন এবং বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন হওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে শেখ মুজিবের ভূমিকা শুধুমাত্র অন্ধ ও মূর্খ লোকেরাই অস্বীকার করতে পারে। এসব ক্ষেত্রে মরহুম শেখ মুজিবের সমকক্ষ কোন বাঙ্গালিকে পাওয়া দুষ্কর। এ অসামান্য কৃতিত্বের পাশাপাশি শেখ মুজিব যে একজন ব্যর্থ রাষ্ট্রনায়ক (statesman) সেটাও অস্বীকার করার কোন উপায় নেই। ১৯৭২ সাল থেকে ১৯৭৫ সাল পর্যন্ত শেখ মুজিবের শাসনকাল পর্যালোচনা করলে দেখা যায় যে তার ব্যর্থতা নানামুখীঃ (ক) যুদ্ধবিধবস্ত দেশকে নতুন করে গড়ে তুলতে তিনি সফল হন নাই, (খ) নিজের ছেলে ও দলের লোকদের রামরাজত্ব নির্মূল করতে ব্যর্থ হন, (গ) তিনি নিজেই গণতান্ত্রিক ব্যবস্থা পরিহার করে স্বৈরতন্ত্রের দিকে ধাবিত হন, প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন বাকশাল, শ্লোগান উঠে –"এক নেতার এক দেশ, বঙ্গবন্ধুর বাংলাদেশ", (ঘ) শাসনতন্ত্রে সমাজতন্ত্র ও ধর্মনিরপেক্ষতাবাদের মত বিদেশী আদর্শ এনে বাংলাদেশের আপামর মুসলিম জনসাধারণের ধর্মীয় অনুভূতিতে চরম আঘাত হানেন, (ঙ) তাঁর একনায়কতন্ত্র, স্বৈরতন্ত্র, প্রশাসনিক অদক্ষতা এবং অর্থনৈতিক সুষম বন্টনে মারাত্মক ত্রুটির ফলে অবশেষে বাংলাদেশে নেমে আসে চরম দুর্ভিক্ষ। এ সব কিছুই শেখ মুজিবের পূর্বোক্ত মর্যাদাকে একেবারে ম্লান করে দিয়েছে। এসব কারণেই পরিবারের অধিকাংশ সদস্যসহ শেখ মুজিবকে নিহত হতে হয় এক প্রতিবাদী গ্রুপের কাছে।

বি.বি.সি'র যাচাই: শ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙ্গালী
কয়েক বছর আগে বি.বি.সি' একটা মতামত যাচাই করেছিল/ মতামতটা শুধু যাচাই ছিলো শুধুমাত্র বি.বি.সি'র শ্রোতাদের মাঝে সীমাবদ্ধ যাদের ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারের সুযোগ ছিলো। ফলে দেশের আপামর জনসাধারণের অংশগ্রহণের কোন সুযোগ ছিলো না। এটা গবেষণা পদ্ধতির (research methodology) এক মারাত্মক ত্রুটি। এই ত্রুটিকে বলা হয় পরিসংখ্যাগত ত্রুটি (sampling error)। এ ত্রুটি থাকলে গবেষণার ফলটা সাধারণিকরণ (generalize) করা যায় না। অর্থাৎ বি.বি.সি'র উক্ত মতামত যাচাই অনুসারে আমরা বলতে পারিনা যে শেখ মুজিব বাংলার জনগণ কর্তৃক নির্বাচিত এযাবৎ কালের শ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙ্গালী; বরং শুধু এতটুকুই বলা যায় শেখ মুজিব শুধু বিবিসি'র শ্রোতাদের দৃষ্টিতে (যারা মতামত যাচাইয়ে অংশ নিয়েছিলো) সেরা বাঙ্গালী। ফলে আওয়ামীলীগের যেসব নেতা কর্মী এ নিয়ে মিছিল-মিটিং শোভাযাত্রা ও দেয়াল লিখন করে প্রচার করেছে যে "বিএনপি এবং জামায়াত অস্বীকার করলেও বাংলার জনগণ প্রমাণ করেছে বঙ্গবন্ধুই এ যাবৎকালের শ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙ্গালী"- তাদের কথা যে চরম আহাম্মকের পরিচয় বহন করে তা বলাই বাহুল্য। মজার ব্যাপার হলো, এ মতামত যাচাইয়ে অধ্যাপক গোলাম আযমের অবস্থান ছিলো শেখ মুজিবের কাছাকাছি এবং শেখ হাসিনার অনেক অগ্রে!
