Re: [mukto-mona] Border killings and Cattle smuggling

Bangladesh has a scarcity of cow, but abundance of human. Therefore, human will go in and cow will come out of India always.

>>>>>>>>>> I think you are at least a decade behind. It is true people USED to go to India for work or visit relatives (Both Hindus and Muslims) but today Bangladesh has enough employment opportunities and opportunities in gulf and western countries. So people are NOT so eager to work and live in India lately.

We do have a deficit in protein consumption and we (India and Bangladesh) should have a formal process to do cattle trade. Just killing unarmed poor people cannot be a permanent solution from a civilized nation.

Like it or not, there is a communal dimension to the story. India would not dare doing anything like this with any strong country but poor Bengalis are "Fair game".

Tells you a lot about values of that nation (Guess that is how they justify aborting/murdering over a million baby girls every year).

They are not much different than Pakistanis (Pak army killed more Pakistani citizens than any enemies in last 60+ years).

Shalom!

When opposition parties do not find any good issue, they resort to communality for politics. It's a very effective political currency in the subcontinent. Even though border killing is mostly the result of circumstantial conditions in Bangladesh, politicians color it with communality. Because of that situation, problems will remain unsolved forever.

Not only cow-smuggling, human-smuggling is also a very big problem for India, and Bangladesh cannot solve any of them. Bangladesh has a scarcity of cow, but abundance of human. Therefore, human will go in and cow will come out of India always.  That's the reality. Bangladesh can never get self-sufficient in the cattle-supply to meet such a big appetite or reduce it's population ever. Therefore, politicians will keep talking about border killing for generations, without a solution.

There's communal politics in the beef!

Jamaat/BNP wallahs, while shedding buckets of tears on BSF killing Bangladeshis at the India-BD border, never mention the cattle smuggling issue in any detail.

Cow smuggling ... it's how Bangladesh gets its beef
Beef is a delicacy in Bangladesh, but Hindu-majority India refuses to sell their sacred cows. The demand is so high, however, that a dangerous $920 million cow smuggling trade has popped up.
