I understand your feelings about people being illiterate and unable to choose the right course, but – what about the literate people; what about the so called Sushil Samaj. If these people really want – they can get rid of those corrupt politicians also. I do not see any outcry for that demand; instead I see the most corrupt ones are being hailed as heroes and leaders by the so called Sushil Samaj every day. Who do I blame, except people?
You want a political party to lead people in the right path. Again, that's only possible when a political party will see popular support for that direction. Now, country is divided between pro- and anti- Jatiotabadi camps. Under this condition, both camps will play it safe; they will not go too far from the center. Right now - Awami League needs support of the religious groups also to hold onto power. Politics in Bangladesh is complex, but it could be simplified if country had a popular direction. Unfortunately, we do not have it.
The root cause of everything is ultimately the people; politicians merely use them in their favor. For example, if no one would go out to block the street, burn buses, shops, and hurl cocktails at police during Hortal, politicians would be bound to abandon such destructive politics, and come to the table to settle political differences. So, it's ultimately the people who drive political agenda.

As you can understand, minority properties are the soft touches for these unscrupulous culprits.
Corruption from top to bottom (in both of these parties) is not only damaging the democratic system but also putting at risk the very survival of the country. Corruption is the main culprit to create a favourable condition for the rise of Jamaat. Corruption runs from schools to Universities, from junior government official to senior most civil servants. The whole thing is poisonous. In a situation like this, military rule to get rid of these corrupt bunches is the only desirable solution. If this situation continues unabated, in a short few years Jamaat will be running the country and that is the nightmare!!!

I said before, Bangladesh needs a nationalist dictator, like Kamal Ataturk, to give it a sense of direction. People are totally confused, and divided between pro- and anti- Bangalee-Jatiotabadi camps. Hence, political ideologies are polarized along these two constituents.
It is hard to explain how an overwhelming majority who endured so much sacrifice in 1971 just to protect Bangalee-Jatiotabad can also trash it so quickly. Since 1975, country's power structure is fluctuating between anti- and pro- Jatiotabai camps. It's now at a juncture where anti-Jatiotabadi camp can come to power in the next election again. If that happens, there will be no continuity of progress, made by the current government camp. Do you think people have this sense of reality? I do not think so. The tradition in Bangladesh is - whatever progress one camp makes, the other neutralizes it. This can occur only due to national confusion, created by the so called democracy game. It is too easy to manipulate public sentiment with appropriate might, fund and propaganda under a democratic environment. So, Bangladesh has a thuggish democracy. I agree with you - Bangladesh is not ready for democracy. But, what's the alternative? We do not have true nationalist leader also.
I want a nationalist political ideology under the frame work of Bangalee-Jatiotabad. How can I get my wish realized? I need popular support for it from the people of Bangladesh. That's non-existent, as far as I can see. So, the present Awami-Leadership is incapable of creating such environment as they don't enjoy popular support from the people of Bangladesh. For these situation, I blame the political ignorance and stupidity of the people of Bangladesh, not Awami League. People get what people deserve, and Bangladeshi people are responsible for their current state of affairs.

There are many who join a political rally to commit heinous acts intentionally to defame a political party; they are the infiltrators from other parties. Then, there are many party-criminals, who do not have any quality for politics, except thuggish qualities. This particular thug, Tuku, is using his thuggish quality to terrorize religious minorities in the region so that they will not dare to vote against him. As per the report, he is using 'boat' symbol to seek vote, meaning he earned some sort of nomination from Awami League. What a quality candidate from Awami League!
As per my memory - thugs always rule Bangladeshi society; they are the leaders. No one can stop them. People are powerless; they have no right to own guns to protect themselves from these thugs. So, only way these thugs can be stopped is by setting an example with the highest punishment possible to these criminals. To make that happen, political parties need to feel the need to stop them. But, that's not going to happen in Bangladesh; because - 1) government is afraid that they will need the same techniques when they are not in power, and 2) government can safely blame the opposition parties for these criminality. In any event, politicians are not paying any price; only stupid public is paying with their lives and properties. Politicians will visit, and give a fiery speech; that's all they will get from politicians.
A few days back, we saw horrendous pictures of arson and vandalism, where criminals were terrorizing people on the street with machetes, sticks, and firebombs. How hard it could be to find those criminal when their acts are captured in the crystal clear colored pictures, flashing on the front page of the newspaper. Those criminals are not unknown. If law enforcement agencies in the Western countries can apprehend criminals using grainy black and white security camera footages, why Bangladeshi law enforcement cannot find those criminals using their crystal clear pictures? Surely, they can; but, they won't. That's the government politics.
All these make me long for the corruption fighting Fakruddin-Moinuddin government of 1/11.
