It has been a perfect vehicle for superpowers to promote their agenda whenever they could use it for their advantages. Alternatively, the institution is/was being bypassed with a typical slogan like- who really needs it? "Since we smell WMD and chemical weapons in the air, we do not need any mandate from UN. So, it was good that Bangladesh government did right thing to ignore the scoundrels of UN.

Mr. Haque is right about pointing out that there are bad elements in BAL but, they are not as smelly as butchers in the NP/Jamat ranks. The infamous mass murderers have been openly patronized and rehabilitated since dictator Zia came to the power. At this point, we need to torment the big sinners and not to use resources to go after small potatoes. So, Mr. Haque point is well taken but it should not be a justification why documented ugly mass murderers should go free. That would set a bad example for the future criminals.

Bangladesh has done it right by executing a heinous criminal lawfully, ignoring the so-catted defenders of human rights.
