Re: [mukto-mona] A letter of appeal to Mukto-mona friends

In this land, Jamaatis are not the lone scoundrels.  Many otherwise 'religious' persons find plunder of 'minorities' sanctioned by religion though they forbid usury or even bribe.

Gandhi and Mandelas were qualitatively different animals than the religious supremacist, Jamat. Those people never imposed their religious wills on others. They were for separating religion from all state matters making all citizens equals and worthy. That was the key of their success. It is a great shame that you are equalizing these great humanists with the damn Jamati scoundrels.

Similar things have seen said about Gandhi but his peace loving message won hearts of people from many faith backgrounds. In our times, Nelson Mandela is another fine example.

Before secularists or anyone else wish to confront another ideology, they have to make sure their own platform is filled with HONEST and dedicated people.

For example when a secularist Palestine Liberation Organization lead the struggle of independence, people from all faith background (Even communist/atheist) joined in. However over the time horrible amount of corruption in the leadership and failed policies made them unpopular with many Palestinians.

Later on, Israel encouraged religious parties to counter PLO (Later PA) movement and they flourished. This was after Mosad, CIA, ISI and Saudis hatched the Taleban movement in Afghanistan and moved Soviets out of Afghanistan. So we have seen Hamas became wildly popular among certain parts of Palestine.

So whatever
movement you feel passionately about has to be carried out by honest, dedicated and talented people. We do not have a lot of political leaders with such qualities, so alternatives became more appealing to a lot of people.

It is going to take a lot of time and commitment from a large number of people.

Therefore, once we make ourselves better people, mainstream population will automatically follow. Until then badmouthing and slander will have opposite effect.

Shalom!

I must praise and commend Prof Ajoy Roy's dedication and commitment to the cause to help the minorities in Bangladesh. It is indeed an extremely praiseworthy endeavour that Prof Roy had been doing for good many years now. I would feel privileged to support this endeavour financially and, if possible, help propagate this ideal such that it can achieve even greater successes.
Incidentally, I am coming to Dhaka at the middle of February for just one week. If possible, please contact me personally (in my email address) with your phone number so that I can make a donation while I am in Dhaka.

Now I must also say that I read Dr Bain's and Dr Jiten Roy's egregious outburst which disappointed me tremendously. Both of them advocated religious minorities to have guns (in keeping with the gangster mentality they may have developed in America) and start a riot unseen anywhere in the subcontinent recently. These are the people masquerading as mukto-monas preaching blatant parochial behaviour!! Their attitude is particularly hideous when the general atmosphere in Bangladesh is turning towards reconciliation, proper protection of minorities and the punishment of the perpetrators of crimes during the last few months.

Instead of encouraging this cordial atmosphere and establish a lasting and peaceful coexistence between the communities, these guys think that with few guns they can take revenge on the overwhelming majority. This sort of attitude is utterly condemnable. Hardly do they realise that the 8 per cent of the Hindu minority will have no cats in hell's chance against the violent Jamaatis. These Jamaatis can only be held in check by moderate, peace loving secularists like us and other well intention people. Any flare up of violence, as they advocate from the safety of America, will change the landscape completely!

Dr. Avijit Roy
Moderator & members of Mukto-mona Groups

Dear Avijit,

For a long time I have not been not in touch with you. As you know these days I am pretty busy with so called minority persecution almost throughout the year 2013. 2012 year witnessed the devastating communal violence at Ramu, Cox’sbazar on the Buddha Communities and on their monasteries. I myself visited the cite, saw the extent of man-made devastation could be by the fanatics which included not only the Jamatis and BNPs but a section of Awami League followers being influenced by the false propaganda that through a Facebook a Buddhist young man insulted the Prophet of Islam (sm).

Recently our team visited the affected areas of Karnai in Dinajpur where thousands of men and women were persecuted, manhandles, women were insulted, houses and business establishments broken, set fire and looted the properties. I have a sent a detail report to Mukto-mona. Now we have to do something positive materially to rehabilitate most affected families say about 100-150. We made an assessment. The programme needs ~ 40-50 lac BD taka.

You once hinted that Mokto-mona wants to do some thing positive. 50 lac (5,000,000) BT taka will be around ~ 62,500 US$. Can Mukto-mona Friends come forward to raise the fund for the victims of Karnai village, Dinajpur.

I very honestly appeal to Mukto-mona members to come forward to raise the fund for the sake of human sufferings. We did the similar rehabilitation programme at Annada Prasad village and at Khedaimari School, a char Island in River Brahmaputra a few years back.

I am enclosing here with the rehabilitation programme of Karnai people.

With love to you and very good wishes to your Mukto mona groups

Yours affectionately

Ps: can you send the link in which you wrote about me 'Tini Bridha Holen etc. I lost the article of yours that I and your mom liked very much, and want to preserve it. Do something for it. I am physically passing very hard days. Cost of my own and your mom's treatment plus the domestic expenditure almost became unbearable. Please don't take it otherwise. Some how I am managing.
