Re: [mukto-mona] Annual Celebration of Mahrram (Ashoura) another Beauty of Islam for the world to see!

Ashura is also the day of Jewish Passover. The dance is also preIslamic, probably Assyrian style of expressing grief. Imam Hussain trusted on mass desertion of Umayyad army that would bring him victory. That did not happen. He was brought back to grace after the Abbasid regime came to power. Now a Vivekananda joke, "A Brahmin on watching the Muharram procession for the first time  kissed the feet of the effigy of Yazid and said -  You are the real God, such a beating you gave them that they cry even today"

Dear All:

Annual Mahrram celebration is really charming beauty of peaceful Islam! Big questions are: is it really an expression of grieving or is it a jihadi protest against the non-muslim kaffirs? Or, who killed Imam Hossain and against whom this jihadi and bloody grieving/protests are targeting by Muslims. And why this blood-letting savagery needs to be exhibited by Muslims and how long this savage dance will continue to frighten this poor world? Could anybody explain the history of this bloody dance! I really could not understand the significance of this savage dance of Islam.
