[mukto-mona] This land was made for you and me

This land was made for you and me
Sushovan Dhar
The LBA, if it eventually comes into fruition, will certainly be a
matter of rejoice for numerous populations in the enclaves
[Comments from my friend, Sukla: The ball for the India-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement, this time round, had been set rolling under the preceding UPA regime in India.
The Bangladeshi leader Sheikh Hasina was/is only too eager.
But it could not be brought to fruition because of strong opposition
by the TMC and the BJP (and also the AGP), in particular.
Now, the TMC and BJP appear to have reversed their stands, for reasons
of their own.
One only hopes that they stick to their revised stands, at least for a
while, and the deal gets eventually vetted by the Indian parliament.
It will immensely help the unfortunate inhabitants of the numerous
"enclaves", who are for all practical purpose being treated as
stateless people.]

Mamata Banerjee's U-turn
It is a pleasant surprise, and also a matter of great relief, to witness West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, earlier a staunch opponent of any deal with Bangladesh in neither land nor water, declaring her approval for the deal.
With Banerjee's approval, the prospects of arriving at a genuine settlement seems brighter than ever. The question buzzing within political circles concerns the factors contributing to her change of heart. What prompted her to commit a U-turn?
