A wishful thinking indeed! It is not the religion or God that these people really believe....but having the power of intimidating another religion or group with the bigger muscle is what is in question. Few millions highly educated and enlightened Scandinavians might stop believing God(s) but the other human traits including xenophobia would not vanish any time soon from their psyche unless we all become a homogenous race. Even that might not bring any peace to us. You take away Gods and religions, our human psyche would be taken over by another awkward human trait. Our minds are simply unpredictable and uncontrollable. We are mix of sane and insane minds. With Gods or no Gods, the equation would not be changed.

Also, secularism does not mean disbelief in God. I am not sure why Western Pundits cannot understand this point. Non-belief of religion is not secularism, and non-belief of religion does not automatically translate into disbelief in God, as described in the following article.
