First of all, I must mention, Dr Jiten Roy, that it is not 'Jamat', but 'Jamaat' (short of Jamaat-e-Islami).
Now BNP is politically Jamaat's captive. BNP knows that without Jamaat they stand no chance. They have no money, no manpower and no physical 'goonda dal'. And Jamaat knows that without them, BNP is nothing. So Jamaat is dictating BNP. All these burning, petrol bombing, vandalism, terrorism are being carried out by Jamaat associated people - like Chatra Shibir etc.
So, don't think that BNP all of a sudden become a party of angels, only if they can part company with the Jamaat. When and if they come out of Jamaat's company, they are nobody. They with gradually wither away.

The real problem in the country is terrorism, not dialogue. The country is under seize by terrorists. If there is any urgent national dialogue that should take place it should be about how to get the country out of this terrorist seize.
No one with sane mentality should equate terrorism with political movement. Equating terrorism with politics will make terrorism a legitimate political tactic to achieve political objectives.
BNP is denying these terrorism; let's accept it. How about Jamat? Most of the bomb throwers are from Jamat. As I understand, they do not care for democracy, meaning Jamat has a different purpose, other than democracy; could it be to trigger a civil war in Bangladesh?
Some civil society fellows have been threatening about civil war already for a while.
Jamat and other Islamist groups want civil war in Bangladesh. That's the only way they may have a chance to establish Taliban society in Bangladesh. Whether they can do it in Bangladesh is a different matter.
Geographical condition in Bangladesh will make it impossible for Jamat to materialize its dream; Bangladesh is not Afghanistan. They should remember that; Bangladesh is surrounded by Myanmar, China, and India.
My issue with civil society fellows is that - they are also using the fear of 'civil war' to force government to give-in to Jamati terrorism. Do they understand - if government follow their suggestions that will empower terrorism as a legitimate means to get demands realized. My impression is - they do not understand this point at all.
Political issues should never be resolved by terrorism. So, only demand from the civil society should be about stopping terrorism, and bringing normalcy in the country. That will discourage such tactic to be used in politics in the future. Instead of doing so, if they ask for dialogue to stop terrorism, such tactic will be used again in the future, as has been the case in the past. Both political parties have used it. Let's break away from such destructive politics now.
My suggestion to BNP is to come clean by doing the following - 1) stop supporting terrorism as a political tactic, 2) apologize to the nation for creating chaos in the life of ordinary public, 3) gracefully accept the mistake of not participating in the parliament, and in the last election, and 4) wait for the next general election in 2019.
If these steps are immediately implemented, the popularity of BNP will go through the sky, and it will be the most popular party in Bangladesh. Also, BNP will be taken seriously as a democratic party. If not, BNP will remain as the drama-queen party in Bangladesh, as it is now.

আমরা বিভিন্ন মিডিয়াতে দেখলাম প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ছেলে জনাব সজীব ওয়াজেদ জয় বলেছেন "যারা সংলাপের কথা বলে, তারা পাগল" আমার তো প্রথমে বিশ্বাসই হচ্ছিল না পরে দেখলাম বহু গনমাধ্যমে তার সেই বক্তৃতা প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। কোন পাগলকেও পাগল বলা একটা সামাজিক অপরাধ। আমরা যাদের দেখি রাস্তায় ঘোরাফেরা করছে, অসংলগ্ন এবং আজে বাজে কথা বলছে, অনবরত বকছে তারা আসলে পাগল না, তারা মানুষিক রোগী। আপনার যদি ডায়াবেটিস থাকে, হার্টের সমস্যা থাকে ইত্যাদি তাহলে আপনি একজন শারিরীক রোগী। কোন মানুষিক রোগীকেও পাগল বলা সামাজিক অপরাধ।
আমরা দেখছি দেশের প্রায় প্রত্যেকটি বিবেকবান এবং যোগ্য ব্যক্তি এই গভীর রাজনৈতিক সংকটের সমাধানের জন্য সংলাপের আহবান জানাছেন, যেমন সাবেক রাষ্ট্রপতি এ কিউ এম বদরুদ্দোজা চৌধুরী, ডঃ কামাল হোসেন, বিশিস্ট মুক্তিযোদ্ধা আব্দুল কাদের সিদ্দিকী,ড. এ টি এম শামসুল হুদা এবং আরো অনেকে। তাহলে জনাব জয়ের ভাষায় ওনারা সব পাগল! আমি তো ওনাদের এত সম্মান করি যে ওনাদের মত যোগ্য এবং বয়োজোস্ট ব্যক্তিদের সামনে মাথা উচু করে কথা বলতেও দ্বিধা লাগে।
জনাব জয়, এটা জমিদারী বা রাজতন্ত্র না! আধুনিক গনতন্ত্রে রাজনীতি করতে অনেক প্রজ্ঞা, ধৈর্য এবং পরমতসহিষনুতা দরকার। আপনার বয়স কম (আপনি আর আমি প্রায় সমবয়সী) ভবিষ্যতে আর ধৈর্য্যের সাথে কথা বলবেন আশা করি।
আমাদের এই ভয়াবহ সমস্যার সমাধান চাই, আর কোন দেরি চাই না একদম। আমাদের ছেলে মেয়েরা স্কুল-কলেজে পর্যন্ত যেতে পারছে না। আমরা কেউ নিরাপদে রাস্তায় পর্যন্ত যেতে পারছি না বাসে-ট্রেনে ভ্রমন করা তো দুরের কথা। এ কোন নরক যন্ত্রনা! বিএনপিকে আমরা ইতিপুর্বেও বলেছিলাম আবার ও বলছি, মেহেরবানী করে জালাও-পোড়াও রাজনীতি বাদ দিন, অহিংশ আন্দোলন এবং অহিংশ রাজনীতিতে চলে আসুন। আশা করা যায় তাহলে আপনাদের কাছ থেকে শিক্ষা নিয়ে ভবিষ্যতে আওয়ামীলীগ সহ অন্যান্য দলও অহিংশ রাজনীতিতে চলে আসবে। ভাল একটা দৃস্টান্ত স্থাপন করার দারুন এই সুযোগ বিএনপির নস্ট করা উচিত না।
আমেরিকা ইরানকে সন্ত্রাসী দেশ মনে করে তার কারন ইরান অনেক সন্ত্রাসী গ্রপকে সামরিক এবং আর্থিক সাহায্য করে তার পরেও আমেরিকা এবং তার মিত্ররা ইরানের সাথে আলোচনা অব্যাহত রেখেছে যেন ইরান পারমানবিক বোমা না বানায়। ইসরাঈলের সাথে ফিলিস্থিনিদের জনম জনমের শত্রুতা , দুই পক্ষ রীতিমত যুদ্ধাবস্তায় যা পৃথিবীর সবাই জানে। তার পরেও ইসরাঈলের সাথে ফিলিস্থিনিদের প্রায় আলোচনা হয় এবং আমেরিকা সহ অনেক দেশ সেই আলোচনায় মধ্যস্থতাও করে থাকে প্রায়শ। তালেবান, আল-কায়েদা বা ISIS এর সাথে আমেরিকার কোন আলোচনা হয় না কারন ওসব সন্ত্রাসী গোস্টী কোন আলোচনা চায় না।
আমরা দেখলাম ISIS এক জর্দানী পাইলটকে জ্যান্ত পুড়িয়ে মারল। জর্দান বন্দি বিনিময়ের প্রস্থাব দিয়েছিল ISISকে কিন্তু ISIS তাতে কর্নপাত করেনি। দেখুন ISIS এর মত জঘন্য সন্ত্রাসীদের সাথেও জর্দান আলোচনার প্রস্থাব দিয়েছিল জীবন বাচানোর স্বার্থে আর আমাদের দেশে প্রতিদিন মানুষ মরছে, দেশের অর্থনীতি ধংশের দিকে যাচ্ছে তার পরেও আমাদের প্রধানমন্ত্রীর যেন কোন মাথা ব্যাথা নেই। পুলিশ-র্যাব দিয়েই সব সমস্যার সমাধান করবেন! আর তাঁর পুত্র পাগল বলছেন তাঁদের যাঁরা আরাম আয়েশের জীবন বিসর্জন দিয়ে কেও বা অনশন করছেন আর কেউ বা আকুল আবেদন জানাচ্ছেন আলোচনা করে এই ভয়ংকর সমস্যার সমাধানের জন্য।
আমরা দেখলাম কিছুদিন আগে জনাব জয় আপনি আর প্রধানমন্ত্রী ব্যারাক ওবামা এবং তাঁর স্ত্রীর সাথে সাক্ষাত করেছিলেন। খুব ভাল কাজ করেছেন। কিন্তু ব্যারাক ওবামার সাথে ফটোতে পোজ দেওয়ায় শুধু না, তাঁর কাছ থেকে কিছু শিখতে চেস্টা করুন। বর্তমান পৃথিবীতে যত রাজীতিবিদ আছেন তাদের মধ্যে আমি ব্যারাক ওবামাকে সবচেয়ে বেশি স্কোর দেই, তিনি আমার কাছে বর্তমান পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে যোগ্য রাজীতিবিদ মনে হয়। দয়া করে তাঁর সাথে আর ভাল বন্ধুত্ব গড়ুন এবং তাঁর কাছ থেকে কিছু শেখার চেস্টা করুন।
যাহোক আমরা দেখছি আওয়ামীলীগ ইতিপুর্বে বলেছিল যে বিএনপি যেন জামাত ত্যাগ করে কিন্তু বিএনপি তাতে কর্নপাত করেনি। এটা খুবই দুর্ভাগ্যজনক। বিএনপির উচিত অবিলম্বে জামাত ত্যাগ করা। আর আওয়ামীলীগেরও উচিত জাসদ(ইনু) সহ সব চরমপন্থীদের ত্যাগ করা। আওয়ামীলীগ এবং বিএনপির একলা চলার নীতি গ্রহন করা উচিত যাতে করে কেউ যেন তাদের আদর্শগতভাবে প্রভাবিত করতে না পারে (আওয়ামীলীগ এবং বিএনপিতে সংস্কার দরকার সেটা ভিন্ন আলোচনার ব্যাপার)।
তাহলে ব্যাংগের ছাতার মত দেশে অসংখ্য ছোট ছোট রাজনৈতিক দল গজিয়ে উঠতে পারবে না। আমাদের ওতো সব দল দরকার নেই, প্রধান দুটি দল সহ গুটি কয়েক দল দেশে থাকলেই যথেস্ট। তবে সবার আগে দরকার নিঃশর্ত আলোচনা শুরু করা, বহু বরফ জমে গেছে আগে বরফ গলা শুরু হোক, দুই প্রধান দলের মধ্যে একটা সদ্ভাব আর আস্থা গড়ে উঠুক, দেশের মানুষ বর্তমানের এই ভয়াবহ অবস্থা থেকে নিস্তার পাক, তারপর ধীরে ধীরে বিভিন্ন শর্ত নিয়ে আলোচনা হতে পারে। সবাইকে ধন্যবাদ। ডঃ মুসা আলী, February 8, 2015.
