I am not a subscriber of the WSJ, and could not read the whole article. But, I do not like the first paragraph. Punishing Kamaruzzaman was for his crimes against humanity, not for fighting Islamism. In fact, the Islamic fanatics want to say that Bangladesh is fighting against Islam by punishing the Jamaat-i-Islami leaders, which is not the case. The punishments in reality are against heinous crimes, not against using Islam in politics. In reality, even the 'secular' Awami League uses enough of Islam in politics. So, giving Bangladesh credit for fighting against Islamism by pointing to the punishment given to people like Kamaruzzaman is a fallacy.
