Re: [mukto-mona] Are some religious people menaces in the society?

I do not think religions could be so much of a menace if people were not so stupid and criminal-minded. People who believe everything in their religious books are fools, no doubt about that. Much of what the religious books say are false, and contains plain stupidity, which the revealer has succeeded in putting into the heads of the foolish followers. The rulers that have been benefiting from religions include not only the kings and the big politicians, but also the little opportunists such as village chieftains and neighborhood priests and gangsters.

I have no doubt that most of the religion-mongers are smarter than the average foolish believer. They probably do not believe in their professed religion at all. They probably do not give a damn about the fearful punishment from God, which the average foolish believer is scared of. They are just criminally skillful in using the belief of the fools.

It is too sad that a huge segment of the most intelligent life form on earth is so un-intelligent.

Dr. Roy

As an ardent student of history, I consider religion as the menace.  Seneca observed, religion is believed to be true by the fools, false by the wise, and useful by the rulers.  Old Testament(OT) has not been replaced by the New Testament(NT).  OT belongs to the Jews, and NT belongs to the Christians.  Jesus was not deemed to be God in his life time.  After his death his words became gospels(God Spells), and his character was remoulded on the sun-god.  It may also be noted that 25th Dec. was not his real birth day.  It was celebrated across the pagan roman empire as the birthday of the sun-god.  In fact Jesus may be more of a fiction than truth.

More blood has been shed in history for the cause of religion than any other cause.  A society can be just only if the religious practices are done away with forever.  It indeed is the opiate of the masses.
