Maqsoodul Huq sounds pretty Establishment to me. What is so radical about his thinking here? He wants Golam Azam hanged - fine.
Yet somehow he goes on to call Dr Yunus a bloodsucker and 1/11 as a day of infamy. In doing so he muddies his arguments instead of building a clean case. If I remember correctly he had some high hopes of the CTG. Of ocurse he is allowed to change his mind.
Sounds like Mac has joined the Establishment. He has defined his priorities and is concentrating on his top priority.
Hanging Golam Azam will give us satisfaction but it will not prevent anything in the future.
Let us not pin too many hopes on a single hanging - however desperate we may be.
When Maqsoodul picks up his guitar and inspires a new generation to sing songs of protest with total disregard to tradition and tone, when he belts out the songs that define the resentments and hopes of the next generation, when he can bring protest and satire to the common song - that's when you know that the tide will turn.
For now he can write about a hanging. It's nice - bit it ain't enough.
