Mr. Rahman,

I'm not a political activist anyway; neither of Al nor of any other party. I keep myself away from political affairs since God has not endowed me with the quality that makes a man eligible to indulge himself in that big affairs. I'm a small man & know my faculty.

No brother Rahman, the small girl acquired the hatred for Awami Leaguers from her family, from her parents, not from any TV report as you had stated. The incidence had happened in 2003 when BNP-Jamat was in power. If she had learn it from TV, she would have grown hatred for BNP, not for Awami League. You must admit that AL would take thousand years to equal itself with BNP-Jamat in accomplishing mischievous activities of bigger magnitude. How? Let me cite some concrete examples:

1- In 1975, killing spree had occurred in 32 Dhanmondi where even a 7 year old boy, a loving housewife, newly-wed brides, seven months' pregnant mother- all were bayoneted & mercilessly killed. Although BNP was non-existent at that time, everybody knows who the killers were, who gave them indemnity, who gave them reward instead of punishment, who obstacled their trial in all possible ways. AL would never surpass this milestone I can assure.

 

2- After independence, Gen Shafiullah was made C-in-C of BD Army surpassing Zia. So Zia had gone to Mujib to advocate for himself. Mujib understood & told- "Bouma kothai"? (where is my Bouma). Zia didn't accept Khaleda until then on the plea that she had been living in the Cant under Gen Jamshed's custody for 9 months. Zia understood the tone of Mujib. So he had gone to BangaBhaban with Khaleda the next day. Rehana received Khaleda with a red Banarashi & Zia was made the Deputy C-in-C of BD Army. Zia's family was thus restored by Mujib's magnanimity. In return, Khaleda after ascending the throne of premiership in 1991 shifted her birthday to 15^th Aug to mock the killing of Mujib & his family. There is documentary proof that Khaleda has another 3 birthdays in her bag, 1 according to her admission to Dinajpur girl's school, 1 according to the Kabin-nama with Zia & 1 according to the bio-data submitted to Jatio Sangshad Secretariate in 1991.

Alas, Sheikh Hassina would never be able to discover such fake birthday to mock the brutal murder of Zia.

 

3- Under direction of President Zia, Poet Hassan Hafizur Rahman compiled the documents of Liberation War in 15 volumes. In the 3^rd volume, details were documented on the Proclamation of Independence on 25^th March midnight by Bangabandhu. The voluminous work was done under Zia's directive & he never found anomaly in it during his lifetime. When Khaleda ascended to premiership in 2001, she re-wrote the history & made Zia the "Proclamator of Independence" on 25^th March! If Zia would be alive today, he would perhaps cover his face in shame after reading this new history created by his followers. Zia himself gave details on his activities of 25^th March night in weekly "Bichitra" in an article captioned "Ekti Jatir Janmo" (birth of a Nation). He never ever uttered that he was the "Proclamator of Independence".

Alas, Sheikh Hassina has not the guts to create such new history like her rival Khaleda.

 

4- After 2001 election, reign of terror unleashed against the minorities & awami leaguers throughout BD by BNP-Jamat goons was unparalleled. More than 70 thousand minorities had migrated to India; more than 20 thousand from southern districts took shelter in the central office of AL in Bangabandhu Avenue. Thousands of women were raped, houses burnt. Foreign journalists vomited when they saw the video of those atrocities. Shahriar Kabir, Selim Samad (AP), Jaiba Malik (Channel 4) et all were arrested for documenting & reporting those heinous crimes. Selim Samad & Jaiba Malik were expelled from BD & Shahriar landed in prison. Non-partisan writer, late Humayun Azad was so shocked at these atrocities that he wrote his famous novel "Pak Sar- Jamin". Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedi was so infuriated at Azad that he proclaimed death penalty to this Murtad at his speech in Sylhet. Accordingly, Ataur Rahman Sony, a JMB stalwart & follower of Sayedi killed Azad.

Alas, Sheikh Hassina is so inept that she could not retaliate & stage such noble scenario after 2008 election.

 

5- State-sponsored terrorism? Awami leaguers are bad, so kill them en-mass & the event of Aug-21 was staged under supervision of Hawa Bhabon, Babar, Abdus Salam Pinto et all. Awami MPs are bad, so kill them. And Kibria/ Ahsanullah Masters were killed under supervision of Haris Chow, Shafiuddin Sarkar et all. Export terrorism to neighbors? Bring ship-load of arms under state supervision. These are but a few. Rise of JMB, establishment of Taliban rule in northern districts, killing of judges & lawyers in sitting courts, open march of JMBs under police protection in Rajshahi & Natore, simultaneous blast of bombs in more than 500 places are some glaring examples. Where is the standing of Sheikh Hassina against such valiant achievements? Absolutely nowhere.

 

6- Corruption? Inshallah Khaleda ranked the top in corruption for 5 consecutive years as par Transparency International (2001-2006). Hassina's achievement in this sector is 1/5^th of BNP since she scored highest only once i.e. in 2000. Bloody AL couldn't generate figures like Tarek, Coco, Mamun, Pintoo et all whose names still reverberates the air of BD & whose achievements are recognized even in US courts. Hassina probably is trying hard to reach the target set by her predecessor BNP; share-market crash, Padma Bridge scandal etc might be examples that she is trying. However, don't lose heart brother. Let us pray & patiently wait to see result.

 

Lastly, you commented that "as a concerned person society demands some reaction and response when we see corruption and injustice". I'm fully in agreement with you in this point. But who is going to pay heed to honest opinion? None. If your honest opinion goes in favor of BNP, you would be branded as a Jatiotabadi. If that goes in favor of AL, you are a Bakshali.  This is the scenario in our society. Poet Dante said of the entrance to Hell: "All hope abandon, ye who enter here". I wonder how had he composed those lines in spite he had never visited Bengali Society!

I'm an ardent admirer of Bangabandhu & participated Muktjoodha very closely. That does not mean that I am to support Hassina blindly, I am to accept capital market crash that robbed thousands of small investors, I am to support home ministry in the face of its utter inability to unfold Sagor-Roni murder mystery even within a month. Nonetheless, it bleeds my heart when I see that the killers of 71 move proudly in Dhaka streets with national flag.

This is the tragedy of our national politics.

Dear brother Mezbah Sorry to hurt your feeling. We should see our image on the mirror that is true. You may be an exceptional Awami activist, but do you think what Awami League does everything is right and it doesn't bother your conscience? Did you ever differ with them and raised your voices, what about showing clemency of murderers by the president one after another? Why that small girl had that surprising question, who taught her to raise that question? Perhaps she saw something in the media that is very vivid and that hurt her feelings. I had friends in the Medical college one of them who in KSA kicked the daughter of our Principal on her buttocks and she did not come to college anymore, another one now is a big shot in PG hospital never paid dinning halls monthly bill but ate regularly. These are the cream of our society. I have not seen and dealt with you and believe you are a man of principal but as a concerned person society demands some reaction and response when we see corruption and injustice. I have a good friend who is a leading personality in the Riyadh Chapter of BNP. His name is Mr. X. Although I never subscribe to BNP-Jamat politics & actually have leaning towards pro-muktijoddho forces, that did not create any impediment of being a close friend of Mr.X. Mr.X once invited me to a party in a respectable hotel in Riyadh. Other attendants were his wife & his daughter who was only 7 years old. She was a cute girl & I used to love her dearly. In the course of dining, the baby looked at me with great astonishment & asked: "Chhi Uncle, apne ki awami league koren?" (poh uncle. Are you an Awami Leaguer). I was amazed at the question of this tiny girl. I smilingly replied- "Keno Ma, tate dush ki" (Why Mom, what's the harm in it). She moved her head & said –"Na Uncle. Awami League koiren na, Awami League na khoob Kharap" (No uncle. Don't do Awami League, Awami League is very bad). Her parents were at a loss; they hardly believed that their baby could suddenly create such an uncomfortable environment & put them in a situation hardly to mend.   Today I remember the old story as I read the blatant remarks of my friends on Awami mentality (such as Awami leaguers look like uneducated when they speak, Awami leaguers head 50% does not work, most of them are hypocrites, they have seal of blindness in their hearts, they lost their feelings and understanding et all et all). Are these remarks better than that made by the baby I quoted above? Here lies the problem; nobody sees his face in the mirror when speaking. Neither the people nor the leaders. Very sad. মুক্তিযুদ্ধের পক্ষের শক্তিকে তিনি কি নিশ্চিহ্ন করতে চেয়েছিলেন? ফজরের নামাজের সময় তিনি মানুষকে হত্যা করতে হুকুম দিয়েছিলেন কেন? তিনি বলেন, বিরোধীদলীয় নেত্রীর এই দূরভিসন্ধির কথা জামায়াত ও স্বাধীনতাবিরোধী ছাড়া বিএনপির অনেক সিনিয়র নেতারাই হয়ত জানত না। তিনি বলেন, আমরা যদি গণতন্ত্রে বিশ্বাসী না হতাম, তবে ১৮ ডিসেম্বরের ওই ঘৃণ্য ঘটনার পর বিরোধী দল আর শান্তিপূর্ণ কার র‌্যালি, সভা-সমাবেশ করতে পারত না। তিনি অভিযোগ করেন, বিরোধীদলীয় নেত্রী যে হানাদার বাহিনীর দোসর হিসেবে কাজ করছেন তা ওই ১৮ ডিসেম্বরের ঘটনায় প্রমাণিত। আগামী ঐতিহাসিক ৭ মার্চ গণর‌্যালি, ১১ মার্চ চৌদ্দ দলের রাজধানীতে আহূত মানববন্ধন কর্মসূচী, ১৪ মার্চ চৌদ্দ দলের ঢাকায় জনসভা, ১৭ মার্চ বঙ্গবন্ধুর জন্মদিন এবং ২৬ মার্চ স্বাধীনতা দিবসের কর্মসূচীসহ গৃহীত সকল কর্মসূচী সর্বাত্মকভাবে সফল করার জন্য নেতাকর্মীদের নির্দেশ দিয়ে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, স্বাধীনতার মাসে খালেদা জিয়া রাজাকার-যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের রক্ষার জন্য মাঠে নেমেছেন। স্বাধীনতা ও সার্বভৌমত্বে বিশ্বাসী দেশের কোন মানুষ তাঁর এই ঘৃণ্য ষড়যন্ত্র মেনে নেবে না। বরং যারা যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের রক্ষায় এখনও চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছেন তাদেরই বাংলাদেশের জনগণ একদিন ধিক্কার জানাবে। বিরোধীদলীয় নেত্রী খালেদা জিয়ার তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকার দাবি প্রসঙ্গে প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, আসলে তিনি (খালেদা জিয়া) একেক সময় একেক কথা বলেন। তাঁর কোন্ কথা দেশের মানুষ বিশ্বাস করবে? আজ বিরোধীদলীয় তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকারের কথা বলছেন। আগে তিনি বলতেন তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকার মানি না, বুঝি না, মানব না। পাগল আর শিশু ছাড়া কেউ নিরপেক্ষ নন। এখন কি তিনি পাগল ও শিশু খুঁজে পেয়েছেন? এ প্রসঙ্গে তিনি আরও বলেন, ২০০৮ সালে জেল থেকে বের হওয়ার পর খালেদা জিয়া বলেছেন, দেশের মানুষই একদিন এই তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকারের বিলুপ্তি চাইবে। এখন তিনি তত্ত্বাবধায়ক চান সেটা ভাল কথা। কিন্তু তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকার আসলেই যে তাঁকে কোলে তুলে নিয়ে গিয়ে ক্ষমতায় বসাবেন তাঁর গ্যারান্টি কী? তাঁর সাধের প্রিয়জন ইয়াজউদ্দিন-ফখরুদ্দীন-মইনুদ্দিনরা তাঁকে ক্ষমতায় বসায়নি, বরং তাঁকে জেলে এবং তাঁর দুই ছেলেকে উত্তম-মধ্যম দিয়ে বিদেশে পাঠিয়েছে। আবার তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকার এসে তাঁকে জেলে নেবে না, দুর্নীতির কারণে বিদেশে থাকা তাঁর দুই পুত্রকে দেশে ফিরিয়ে এনে বিচার করবে না তাঁর নিশ্চয়তা কী? প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, আমরা যে সময় তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকারের দাবি করেছিলাম তার পেছনে যুক্তি ছিল। আমরা একটি অবাধ, সুষ্ঠু ও নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচনের জন্য এই দাবি করেছিলাম। কারণ বিএনপির আমলে ১৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি প্রহসনের ভোটডাকাতির নির্বাচন, মাগুরা, মিরপুর ও রমনা-তেজগাঁও উপনির্বাচনে ভয়াবহ ভোটডাকাতির কথা মানুষ ভুলে যায়নি। ১৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি ভোটারবিহীন প্রহসনের নির্বাচনে নিজেদের বিজয়ী ঘোষণা করে মধ্যরাতে খালেদা জিয়া তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকারব্যবস্থা পাস করিয়েছিলেন। ওই প্রহসনের নির্বাচনে বঙ্গবন্ধুর আত্মস্বীকৃত খুনী রশিদ-হুদাদের বিজয়ী করে গঠিত ওই সংসদের কোন গ্রহণযোগ্যতা ছিল না। জনগণ মেনে নেয়নি বলেই মাত্র দেড় মাসের মাথায় দেশের জনগণ খালেদা জিয়াকে পদত্যাগে বাধ্য করিয়েছিলেন। তিনি বলেন, বিএনপির আমলে নির্বাচন মানেই ছিল ভোটডাকাতি, সহিংসতা আর মানুষ খুন। আর আওয়ামী লীগের গত তিন বছরে প্রায় ৫ হাজার দুই শ'টি নির্বাচন হয়েছে। একটি নির্বাচন নিয়েও কেউ একটি কথা বলতে পারেনি। মানুষ শান্তিপূর্ণভাবে ভোট দিয়ে নিজের পছন্দের প্রার্থীকে বিজয়ী করেছে। কোথাও হানাহানি বা মানুষ খুনের ঘটনা ঘটেনি। কারণ আমরা জনগণের ক্ষমতায়নে বিশ্বাসী। পুলিশ ছেড়ে মাঠে নেমে মোকাবেলার বিএনপি নেতাদের হুমকির জবাবে প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, আওয়ামী লীগ কখনই পুলিশ বা প্রশাসনকে নিয়ে রাজনীতি করে না। কারণ আওয়ামী লীগের মূল শক্তিই হচ্ছে দেশের জনগণ, মানুষের প্রতি আমাদের আস্থা-বিশ্বাস আছে। যাদের জন্মই অবৈধভাবে, অস্ত্র হাতে ক্ষমতা দখলের মাধ্যমে জেনারেলের পকেট থেকে তারাই জনগণের শক্তিকে ভয় পায়। আওয়ামী লীগ জনগণকে সঙ্গে নিয়েই রাজনীতি করে। যৌথসভায় উপস্থিত ছিলেন তোফায়েল আহমেদ, আবদুল জলিল, আবদুল লতিফ সিদ্দিকী, বেগম মতিয়া চৌধুরী, এ্যাডভোকেট ইউসুফ হোসেন হুমায়ুন, এ্যাডভোকেট সাহারা খাতুন, সতীশ চন্দ্র রায়, ওবায়দুল কাদের, মাহবুব-উল-আলম হানিফ, এ্যাডভোকেট রহমত আলী, এমএ আজিজ, মোফাজ্জল হোসেন চৌধুরী মায়া, ঢাকা মহানগরীসহ আশপাশের জেলার দলীয় সংসদ সদস্য, সহযোগী ও ভাতৃপ্রতিম সংগঠনের নেতৃবৃন্দ, জেলা প্রশাসকবৃন্দ এবং বিভিন্ন ওয়ার্ডের সভাপতি ও সাধারণ সম্পাদকবৃন্দ।
