The Hasina Administration may have been involved in the gruesome attack on journalists to silence them for criticising government policy. Journaliosts should beware of their work thjey may be abducted and killed without any luck of finding their deadbodies.

 

          The BNP/Jamaat handiworks are too clear to be mistaken as anything else, no matter what 'Juboleague' stage-dressings are put on!

Photo: mustafiz mamun Dhaka, May 29 (bdnews24.com) – Jahidul Islam Sourav, one of the three arrested on Tuesday over an attack on bdnews24.com journalists, claims himself to be a member of Juba League, youth front of the ruling Awami League. He also admitted attacking the journalists and office staff of bdnews24.com on Monday night which left two journalists and one staff of the country's first internet-based newspaper seriously injured. However, Awami Juba League General Secretary Mirza Azam has denied Sourav's claim. "His claim is false," Azam said. The other two arrestees – Mir Hossain and Ilias Master Sumon – have, however, denied any connection with the incident. Police presented the trio in front of the press on Tuesday afternoon at the Detective Branch headquarters of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police where Sourav admitted his involvement in the attack. On Monday night, unidentified assailants stabbed bdnews24.com Sub-Editor Newaz Mohammad Rifaat, Correspondent Salahuddin Wahed Pritom and office staff Ruhul Amin with sharp weapons during an attack which left them with serious injuries. Police detained the trio from different localities in Mohakhali in separate raids since Monday night until Tuesday afternoon. DB Additional Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman told reporters, "Sourav was arrested in the morning from his residence in Mohakhali. We also have the names of those who were involved in the attack." Home Minister Shahara Khatun on Monday night, while visiting the injured at the United Hospital, had said the attackers, whichever political party they are from, would not be spared. Sourav told reporters that he is a member of the 'Ga unit' of Juba League. He is a Degree first-year student at Titumir College. However, Mirza Azam told bdnews24.com, "According to the Constitution of Juba League, there is no such organisational infrastructure as 'Ga unit'." Sourav said that police arrested him from his house at 69/2 at Sakaria Mosque lane at Mohakhali. Although the injured – Rifaat, Pritom and Ruhul Amin – bore wounds from sharp-edged weapons, Sourav claimed that no one was stabbed during the clash. Asked if they were not stabbed then where did stabbing injuries come from, Sourav said, "I don't know about any stabbing." He also named three of his 'seniors' – Imran, Yakub and Saddam – involved in the attack. He said two of them works at a private electronic products manufacturing firm, but could not give their designations at the firm. Asked to name other members of the Juba League 'Ga unit', Sourav refrained from answering. But he said, "One of the seniors took my knife." He made this disclosure right after claiming that the journalists were not stabbed. Describing the sequence of events leading to the attack, he said, "I was on my bicycle. There was some stuff on the footpath in front of the bdnews24.com's office building." "As I asked the bdnews24.com staff to remove their stuff, one of them said, 'this is footpath, not road'. I had a heated argument with them. After that I called and informed my seniors about the incident." Ruhul Amin of bdnews24.com was the man with whom Sourav had the argument in front of the building while keeping an eye on the office stuff kept outside to be shifted to the new location of the office. On hearing shrieks of Ruhul Amin, journalists from the office had rushed to his aid and captured the assailant and informed police. Angered at this, some more accomplices of the assailant from nearby areas, armed with sharp-edged weapons, swooped on the journalists. Sourav claimed that he was captured and beaten up. After a while, his 'seniors' arrived on the scene, after which the attack took a new turn, culminating into stabbing of the journalists. Meanwhile, speaking with the media, arrestee Ilias Master Sumon said, "I don't know anything about the incident. I've been framed." The third arrestee, Mir Hossain, also pleaded innocence and denied any involvement in the attack. DB ADC Masudur Rahman told reporters that police were investigating the reasons of the attack and whether any quarter was to benefit from the incident. Earlier in the day, bdnews24.com's Human Resources Officer Shahidul Islam filed a case at the Banani Police Station against 15-20 unidentified people over the attack. Police said the trio was shown arrested in the case. Injured Rifaat, Pritom and Ruhul Amin are still undergoing treatment at the United Hospital at Gulshan. However, doctors have already declared them out of danger. ছবি: মুস্তাফিজ মামুন ঢাকা, মে ২৯ (বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম)- বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম সাংবাদিকদের ওপর হামলায় জড়িত অভিযোগে গ্রেপ্তার একজন নিজেকে সরকার সমর্থিত যুবলীগের কর্মী বলে দাবি করেছে। সংবাদ মাধ্যমের কর্মীদের ওপর হামলার কথা স্বীকারও করেছে জাহেদুল ইসলাম সৌরভ নামে ওই যুবক। তবে যুবলীগ সাধারণ সম্পাদক মির্জা আজম বলেছেন, জাহেদুলের এই দাবি মিথ্যা। সোমবারের হামলার পর পুলিশি অভিযানে গ্রেপ্তার অন্য দুজন নিজেদের সম্পৃক্ততা অস্বীকার করেছে। তাদের নাম ইলিয়াস মাষ্টার সুমন ও মীর হোসেন। মহাখালীর আমতলীতে বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম কার্যালয়ের নিচে সোমবার রাতে একদল যুবক অস্ত্র-শস্ত্র নিয়ে বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম সাংবাদিকদের ওপর হামলা চালায়। এতে ছুরিকাঘাতে গুরুতর আহত হন তিনজন। এরপর রাত থেকে অভিযান চালিয়ে মহাখালী এলাকা থেকে তিনজনকে গ্রেপ্তার করে পুলিশ। মঙ্গলবার তাদের ঢাকা মহানগর গোয়েন্দা পুলিশের কার্যালয়ে সাংবাদিকদের সামনে আনা হয়। ঢাকা মহানগর গোয়েন্দা পুলিশের অতিরিক্ত উপকমিশনার মাসুদুর রহমান সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, "গোয়েন্দা তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে সকালে জাহেদুলকে তার বাসা থেকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। জড়িত অন্যদের নামও পাওয়া গেছে।" স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী সাহারা খাতুন ইতোমধ্যে বলেছেন, হামলাকারীরা যে দলেরই হোক তাদের কোনো ধরনের ছাড় দেওয়া হবে না। জাহেদুল সাংবাদিকদের জানান, তিনি যুবলীগের ওয়ার্ডের 'গ' ইউনিটের কর্মী। তিনি তিতুমীর কলেজে ডিগ্রি প্রথম বর্ষে পড়ছেন। মির্জা আজম বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমকে বলেন, "যুবলীগের গঠনতন্ত্রে 'গ' ইউনিট বলে সাংগঠনিক কোনো কাঠামো নেই।" গ্রেপ্তার জাহেদুলের দাবি উড়িয়ে তিনি বলেন, "এটা পুরোপুরি বোগাস।" জাহেদুল জানান, সকালে বাসায় ঘুমিয়ে থাকা অবস্থায় ৬৯/২ সাকারিয়া মসজিদের গলির বাসা থেকে পুলিশ তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করে। হামলায় আহত সাংবাদিক নেওয়াজ মোহাম্মদ রিফাত, সালাউদ্দিন ওয়াহেদ প্রীতম এবং অফিসকর্মী রুহুল আমিনের দেহে ধারালো অস্ত্রের আঘাতের চিহ্ন থাকলেও হামলার সময় কাউকে ছুরিকাঘাত করা হয়নি বলে দাবি করেন জাহেদুল। ছুরিকাঘাত না হলে এত রক্তপাত কীভাবে হলো- সাংবাদিকরা জানতে চাইলে তিনি বলেন, "রক্তপাতের বিষয়ে আমি কিছুই জানি না।" জাহেদুল হামলায় জড়িত হিসেবে তিন 'বড় ভাই'য়ের নাম বলেন। তারা হলেন- ইমরান, ইয়াকুব ও সাদ্দাম। এদের দুজন একটি বেসরকারি ইলেকট্রনিক পণ্য উৎপাদনকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানে চাকরি করে বলে দাবি করেন তিনি। কী চাকরি করে- প্রশ্ন করা হলে তা বলতে পারেননি তিনি। ওয়ার্ড যুবলীগের 'গ' ইউনিটের 'বড় ভাইদের' নাম জিজ্ঞাসা করা হলে তিনি 'জানি না' বলে এড়িয়ে যান। তিনি বলেন, "এই বড় ভাইদের একজন আমার চাকু রেখে দেয়।" যদিও এর আগেই জাহেদুল বলেছিলেন, সাংবাদিকদের ছুরিকাঘাত করা হয়নি। ঘটনার বর্ণনা দিয়ে জাহেদুল বলেন, "আমি সাইকেলে করে যাচ্ছিলাম। এ সময় বিডিনিউজ কার্যালয় ভবনের সামনের ফুটপাতে মালামাল রাখা ছিল। আমি মালামাল সরাতে বললে আমাকে একজন বলে- 'এটা রাস্তা না, ফুটপাত'। এর পরপরই তার সঙ্গে বাক-বিতণ্ডা হয়। আমি ঘটনা মোবাইল ফোনে বড় ভাইদের জানাই।" জাহেদুল দাবি করেছে, তাকে আটকে রেখে মারধর করা হয়। এরপর তার 'বড় ভাইরা' ঘটনাস্থলে আসেন। গ্রেপ্তার ইলিয়াস হামলায় নিজেদের সম্পৃক্ততা অস্বীকার করে সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, "আমি কিছু জানি না। রাস্তা থেকে ধরে এনে আমাকে ফাঁসানো হচ্ছে।" মীর হোসেনও বলেন, "আমি কিছু জানি না। আমি জড়িত থাকলে আমাকে পাড়া দিয়ে মেরে ফেলেন।" কী কারণে এই হামলা হয়েছে এবং এর পেছনে কার কী স্বার্থ রয়েছে, তা তদন্ত করা হচ্ছে বলে জানান উপকমিশনার মাসুদুর। হামলার ঘটনায় বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমের পক্ষ থেকে একটি মামলা হয়েছে। ওই মামলায়ই তিনজনকে গ্রেপ্তার দেখানো হয়েছে বলে জানায় পুলিশ। ছুরিকাঘাতে আহত সহ সম্পাদক রিফাত, প্রতিবেদক প্রীতম এবং অফিস সহকারী রুহুল আমিন এখনো ইউনাইটেড হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন। প্রীতমকে কয়েক ব্যাগ রক্ত দিতে হয়েছে। বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমের কর্মীদের ওপর হামলার ঘটনায় মঙ্গলবার সারাদেশেই বিক্ষোভ, মানববন্ধনসহ নানা কর্মসূচি পালন করেছে সাংবাদিকরা। বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম/এএসটি/এএইচএ/এসইউএম/এমআই/১৯২৮ ঘ.
