Re: [mukto-mona] Burqa-clad female pickpockets in Idd shopping are as ... ....

As I know, Sharia law is not a unique thing. It has many forms. We have seen horrifying implementation of one form in Taliban Afghanistan. We have seen a few horrifying cases in the rural Bangladesh also. Saudi Arabia seems to be progressing in this respect. Still the way Sharia law discriminates against women in that country is outrageous. The way the law punishes the guilty in SA is brutal.

These are the samples of Sharia law I am aware of and naturally I am not impressed at all. I do not, repeat I do not, want Sharia law to replace the more civilized laws that are in force in America or Bangladesh, and for that matter, in any other country. I hate to have a religious tag on the law of the land. As a matter of fact I am against having religious tag on any system like banking system. Any thing from religion that has been time tested will be any way incorporated automatically in legal system, financial system, etc. Any explicit mention would be discriminatory and divisive in a multi-religious or pluralistic society. Religion has to be kept exclusively at personal levels. Intervention of half educated (half educated because they embrace only religious knowledge) clerics in the state matters will push the society backward. Governments must be able to work independently.

So you see that by implementing Sharia law you segregate in order to 'eliminate' sex crimes, and you do it at the cost of subordinating half of the population to inhuman level. Also sex crimes are not limited to violating a woman by a man, it can also be violating a man by another man. Predatory acts like this are very common in every society. To stop all this law has to be strict and an appropriate set of non-religious will be able to minimize all these sex crimes.

Introduction of Shariah law can prevent sexual crime in all religious places as well as in the society , Do you agree or disagree ?
