I smell it, and hear it! I think we have another pseudonymous stinky creepy buzzing around our ears! Ain't cyberspace great? This Mita Ali is as fake as a cheap imitation fur coat.
Shah Deeldar is totally ignorant about "blasphemy laws", its history in the Pakistani context, or what is being talked about in the context of Egypt. Poor Governor of Punjab, Salman Taseer, a liberal, modern man, who was brought up in the household of his 'khalu', the famous poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, was brutally murdered by his bodyguard for opposing the disgusting blasphemy laws in Pakistan installed by the infamous General Zia-ul-Huq. The murderer was greeted by a large crowd and showered by rose-petals. I saw that unbelievable scene on TV!
Bangladesh does NOT have a blasphemy law in the books. Islami-pasand lawyers try to push it through the back-door by invoking the Indian Penal Code's "hurting the religious sentiment" Act.
Jiten Roy is wrong and out of date when he says: Fact is – these radical Islamists are not smart people; they cannot think straight. Violence is their only trade.
Islamists are very smart people. They are outsmarting everyone. Violence (especially against minority communities) is used occasionally, strategically only to create mayhem and divert attention. They are proving to be financial wizards and great social engineers (whose evil designs target the unsuspecting Muslims, not non-Muslims). Madrassahs and Islamic Banks and hundreds of other commercial enterprises are not 'violent' activities, but are deadly in terms of eroding our bedrock of secularism.

You are wrong again. You can write about Islam here, but you need to be prepared for criticisms also. If you are a regular reader of this forum, you have noticed Q. Rahman writes about Islam all the time. In your last remarks, you replied to my comments about blasphemy law in Egypt. In your response - you have parroted some phrases and slogans about Islam, which were totally out of context, and had no relevance to the topic. When I read your comments, it appeared to me that your goal was to preach Islam instead of responding to my comments. As a result, I asked you to explain what you were talking about. Read Mr. Rahman's comments and try to understand what we were talking about. We were not talking about Islam at all. In fact, we were talking about radical Islamist, not Muslims. There is a gulf of difference between these two groups. Please try to understand the difference first. Let me remind you again – when you bring Islam into discussion, expect some criticism to follow; please do not take them as Islam bashing. I do not want you to stop writing, just bring some relevant discussions on the topic so that we can advance the thought. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Looking forward to reading your comments in the future. Thanks. Jiten Roy --- On Mon, 10/8/12, Mita Ali <mitaali90@yahoo.com> wrote:
