From Islamic point of view, Allah (SWT) sent prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as "Mercy to the worlds" and those of us who claim to follow him should study his life and learn to forgive ignorant people. Unless anyone was a threat to the community, he forgave EVERYONE who wronged (personally) him, EVERYONE!!
It makes me VERY sad when ignorant people resort to violence quickly. Allah (SWT) is the master of the worlds, if someone disagree with it, it will NOT change that status. We (Those who claim to belong to a religion) should be little more secured in accepting non-violent people with different opinion.
May we embrace diversity and non-violence.

Those who claim to belong to any religion should understand that, it is God who gave us "Freedom of choice" to obey Him or disobey Him. NO one should be attacked for having a different opinion on God. Specifically we do not live in a country where we are govern by religious laws. Even if we were govern by religious laws, we do NOT have the right to play "Judge" and "Prosecutor" on anyone.

Three unidentified men attacked Asif Mohiuddin, 29, as he left his office in Uttara district, and stabbed him several times in the neck and back, according to news reports. The journalist sought treatment at a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Mohiuddin's Bengali-language blog, called "Almighty only in name, but impotent in reality," is one of the most visited Web pages in Bangladesh, according to a report by Agence France-Presse. News reports said that Mohiuddin, who identifies as an atheist, frequently criticized religion on his blog. Bangladesh is 90 percent Muslim, and Islam is its state religion. The blogger's writings also included news stories and commentaries on free speech and human rights issues.
