In a open democratic society, there should NOT be any bar on politics or religion based politics. HOWEVER we should not tolerate violence, abuse in the name of politics or religion.

Yes bad people abused God's name for their own personal interest and
bad people did the same in the name of political leaders and specific countries as well.

This does not mean, we closed up all political parties either.

We have to reject violence, slander, looting etc in the name of politics in our country. Unfortunately there is a serious "Trust deficit" among political parties and we the people often pay the price for such costly mistakes by leading politicians.

NO parties are acting responsibly. One is demanding for release while there are serious allegations against their leaders and other party is teaching common people to disrespect court order (It is against our laws).

Surely we CAN demand justice (ALL parties can!) but we cannot dictate the courts. It may seem nice in the short run but leaves a very bad precedence. Also this type of actions will raise serious question about effectiveness of our system. We have to ensure justice is done and our prosecution team make their case in courts not in streets.

"God is not a political figure"- On the contrary, God had always been a political figure.  It had been invoked always to achieve political ends.  Hence as different communities had different Gods, they had always clashed.  With the rise of atheism and secularism, however, God(s) have become redundant with old style religions.  Patriotism, being the last refuge of scoundrels according to Dr. Samuel Johnson, has been a poor and vainglorious substitute of religion.  Politics is and should be based on the use of opportunity to keep the society together with blind loyalty to no dogma.

People of Bangladesh can see the contrast between Jamati-demonstrations and the demonstration in the Sahabag intersection. I know Jamatis are confronting police – but they are not garnering any public sympathy by breaking cars, burning buses, vandalizing neighborhood. Every one of their demonstration ends in destruction of public and private properties. It can only increase public anger and outrage towards them.
 
I am not sure why religion-based politics is allowed anywhere in the world. God is not a political figure; religion-based politics is an absurd concept, and supporters of such politics are severely confused people. They want to establish some God's rules, but no one wants those rules, except them. Under this condition, they will always have to force others to accept their politics. As a result, religion-based politics will always be forceful and tyrannical. Therefore, let's ban religion-based politics in Bangladesh, by all means.

This is what we don't want in this country. But every action will have opposite reactions. If you don't allow them to hold peaceful rallies or meetings, what other options do they have than to resort to this type of terrorism? In a democracy you have to allow every group to have their say. It is a different thing whether you agree with their view point or not. Cast your vote against then during elections if you don't agree. But allow them to say what they want to say. If you ban Shibir/Jama'at what other option will they have than to protest like this? Now you see this picture on all media, even here because some nut barred them to hold a meeting some where. If they could hold that meeting, most probably their words would not have got this much importance. One cannot prejudge that all their demands are illogical (or logical) even before considering them. So before you support banning of Shibir consider that you or your loved ones could become a victim in such mayhem some day. Banning them will force them to go underground and increase in ferocity. Why ask for that if you can avoid it?

রাজধানীর কয়েকটি স্থানে শিবিরের নেতা-কর্মীরা ঝটিকা তাণ্ডব চালিয়েছেন। এ সময় পুলিশ ও শিবিরকর্মীদের মধ্যে ধাওয়া-পাল্টাধাওয়া, ইটপাটকেল নিক্ষেপ ও গুলি ছোড়ার ঘটনা ঘটে। এসব ঘটনায় কারওয়ান বাজারে একজন নারী গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়েছেন। ভাঙচুর হয় বেশ কয়েকটি গাড়ি।
কারওয়ান বাজারে শিবির ঝটিকা মিছিল বের করলে পুলিশ তাদের ধাওয়া করে এবং ফাঁকা গুলি ছোড়ে। এ সময় মিছিল থেকে শিবিরকর্মীরা ইটপাটকেল ছোড়েন। 
এ ঘটনার সময় কারওয়ান বাজারে প্রথমা প্রকাশনা সংস্থার কার্যালয় থেকে বেরিয়ে অধ্যাপক আনিসুজ্জামান ও 'প্রথম আলো'র সম্পাদক মতিউর রহমান গাড়িতে করে অন্যত্র যাচ্ছিলেন। দুই পক্ষের সংঘর্ষের মধ্যে পড়ে যায় তাঁদের গাড়িটি। এতে গাড়ির কাচ ভেঙে যায়। মতিউর রহমান হাতে আঘাত পান। তবে এখন দুজনই সুস্থ আছেন।
কারওয়ান বাজারের ঘটনায় এক নারী গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়েছেন। 
পান্থপথ ও গ্রিন রোড এলাকায় শিবিরের সঙ্গে পুলিশের ধাওয়া-পাল্টাধাওয়ার ঘটনা ঘটে। পুলিশ পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনতে বেশ কিছু ফাঁকা গুলি ছোড়ে। শিবিরকর্মীদের ছোড়া ইটপাটকেলে কয়েকটি গাড়ির কাচ ভেঙে যায়।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী ও পুলিশ জানায়, মতিঝিলে সিটি সেন্টারের সামনে জামায়াত-শিবিরের কর্মীরা মিছিল করার উদ্দেশ্যে জড়ো হচ্ছিলেন। এ সময় পুলিশ তাঁদের ধাওয়া করলে তাঁরা বিভিন্ন অলিগলিতে ঢুকে যায়। 
পল্টন থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) গোলাম সারওয়ার জানান, মিছিল থেকে পুলিশকে লক্ষ্য করে ইটপাটকেল ছোড়া হয়। পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনতে পুলিশ কয়েকটি ফাঁকা গুলি ছোড়ে। 
জামায়াত-শিবির কর্মী আটক 
এদিকে বেলা দেড়টার দিকে নটরডেম কলেজের সামনের সড়কে জামায়াত-শিবির কর্মীরা মিছিল বের করে। তাঁরা পোশাক কারখানার ঝুটে আগুন দেয়। এ সময় পুলিশ তাঁদেরকে ধাওয়া করে। পুলিশের মতিঝিল জোনের উপপুলিশ কমিশনার মেহেদী হাসান প্রথম আলো ডটকমকে বলেন, পুলিশ ২৫-৩০ জন জামায়াত-শিবির কর্মীকে আটক করেছে।
