[mukto-mona] Supporting Awami League or BNP/Jamat in the current environment

@Q. Rahman:

You may not admit, but you tend to support BNP/Jamat political ideologies more than that of the Awami League; it's apparent from your conversations. It is probably apparent from my conversations that I tend to support political ideology of Awami League more than that of BNP/Jamat. I have no hesitation to admit that. If ever BNP/Jamat politics become secular, I will not hesitate to support them. If fact, I have been advising religious minorities in Bangladesh to be apolitical and open minded. They should support any party that comes forward to support their causes.

Recent trend in politics involving religious minority communities is disturbing; it seems that Awami League has taken part in some of those attacks also. But, the number of incidences is much less than that of the BNP/Jamat. So, the obvious choice for support of religious minorities is still the Awami League.

You said you disapprove DC Rally because of your love for the country. As you know Bangladesh is literally burning. Every patriot has a duty to try to do everything in his or her power to extinguish the fire that has engulfed the nation; that includes – seeking international help to quell the fire. The sooner it subsides, the better off our country will be.

You must know - there are foreign agents in Bangladesh, who are actively involved in many of the violence. I can't say - they are acting for the interest of the Awami League. Can you? You can't say - those infiltrators are there out of their patriotism towards Bangladesh. Raise your voice against them, instead of raising your voice against the protest rally of the religious minorities.

My analysis of the current situation in Bangladesh is this - government is trying to subdue the violence being inflicted on the nation by the opposition parties (BNP/Jamat). The opposition parties are instigating violence, not the Government; that's the bottom line. Instigating violence by any political party is not a political right under any democratic norm. Do you agree? If you do, you should embolden hands of the government, even if you do not agree 100% with their policies. As you know, Bangladesh is heading towards a full-fledged civil war, and her existence, as we know now, is in peril. When a country is in such a peril, it is the duty of all patriots to rally behind the government whether we whole-heartedly support the government or not. It is not a wise strategy to create a roadblock on the way for the firefighters when your house is on fire, unless you have an ulterior motive behind it.

Thanks.

Jiten Roy
