Re: [mukto-mona] Washington Rally

You mean, minorities should also cry for the victims of the opposition parties, who are being terrorized by Awami League. You have a wonderful sense of compassion for everybody!

>>>>>>>> I did not pick on any party here. SIMPLY wanted an united voice against vandals.

BNP/Jamat group does not need help from anybody, especially from the religious minorities, to draw international attention on their plights. BNP/Jamat are master propagandists.

>>>>>>>>>> I am NOT interested in politics or political parties. However I have a stake in BANGLADESH and if we can unite against unrest in our country,it would work better. Drawing international attention is NOT a problem, HOWEVER misleading international bodies is a problem. We have a HUGE problem with politics in Bangladesh. Otherwise we get along fine with people of all religion. It is always around election time our religious identity becomes a problem (And I include people of all religion here). It is VERY SAD.

If you do not protest the unjust treatments on you, it will only grow bigger and bigger in the future

>>>>>>>> That is what I have said only few months ago when refugees from Myanmar was heading to our shores but I did not see any interest in peaceful protest on their behalf. STILL we like to protest against all unjust attacks against innocent civilians.

Why don't you ask your party, BNP/Jamat, to stop Hortal for a month. That will improve the image of Bangladesh right away.

>>>>>>>>> I expect little more maturity from educated people like yourself. I have never been a member of any political party (I was approached many times). You may not like everything I have said but I have logic behind everything I proposed. No need to resort to personal attacks.

If you have a problem with BNP/Jamaat, you can take your issues to them. Right now you are barking at the wrong tree SIR!!

Shalom!

Raising international consciousness about atrocities on any group should not be termed as anti-national propaganda. You will do so only to cover up the real atrocity. If you do not protest the unjust treatments on you, it will only grow bigger and bigger in the future. There is nothing against Bangladesh in this demonstration. It is a protest rally of a victim-group; everybody should support them. You should do it also, instead of calling it an attempt to tarnish the image of Bangladesh. Why don't you ask your party, BNP/Jamat, to stop Hortal for a month. That will improve the image of Bangladesh right away.

Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, USA and the coalition of faith based and community organizations from the East Coast, invite you to join the above rally at Lafayette Park (in front of the White House) in Washington D.C. to express your moral outrage against the decades-long continuous violent persecution of religious minorities in Bangladesh by the Islamic fundamentalists and to offer your support and encouragement to the roughly 25 million endangered minorities that are living  hellish life at the jaws of terror, everyday.

>>>>>>>>>>> One of the most misleading arguments I have EVER seen!!

Recent violence has strong ties with our political situation. Specifically with the "Care taker government" concept and how we are going to evolve to the next elected government. Two parties (Similar to 2007) are unwilling to sacrifice their party interest and the whole country (NOT only Hindus) are suffering. Our economy is going to face a HUGE setback and we don't know how things will be next week.

If you guys want to know the truth, it is most of our citizens are living life "At the jaws of terror". If you have some backbone, you would include all parties who caused such "Terror" on people (Mostly with opposition political parties).

This kind of irresponsible propaganda against your own country will not be good for anyone. You advice everyone (Blame Jamaat for mixing politics and religion) and you guys doing EXACTLY the same thing.

This kind of dishonesty will bring harmony among common population.

We have serious issues with corruption, law and order and ugly politics. But we don't have fictional "Terror attacks" solely based on religion.

People of this country are not prefect but they have voted and changed political leaders every time they had a chance hoping for a better future. If they were supportive of fictional "Islamic fundamentalists", they would not voted for BAL during last election. FACT is most of our population are not driven by religion (Like it or not). Economy and country's ecosystem is more important to us.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. By acting irresponsibly you are empowering religious fundamentalists.

Take a little time, analyze long term impact of your actions. I hope you will see it too.

Shalom!

Friends,
Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, USA and the coalition of faith based and community organizations from the East Coast, invite you to join the above rally at Lafayette Park (in front of the White House) in Washington D.C. to express your moral outrage against the decades-long continuous violent persecution of religious minorities in Bangladesh by the Islamic fundamentalists and to offer your support and encouragement to the roughly 25 million endangered minorities that are living  hellish life at the jaws of terror, everyday.

Originally established as a secular democracy in 1971, Bangladesh gradually fell into the hands of Islamic fundamentalists who declared it virtually as an Islamic Republic in 1988 (Established Islam as State Religion). That prompted a systematic erosion of the rights of the religious minorities and inspired waves of violent attacks against them and on their interests which ultimately resulted in drastic reduction of minority population from the high of 23%  in 1971 to a mere 9.7% today.
The current wave of violence against the minorities transpiring in the wake of the International Judicial Tribunal's verdict against Delwar Hossain Sayedee, a notorious war criminal and terrorist, is not a new phenomenon. This was simply a pretext for the Islamists to attack the minorities to grab their land, loot their property, and drive them away from the country just like they have done during every single election since 1971 and during any International development involving the religion of Islam, or even after many rumors in the past.  No matter what it is, when the Islamists are riled up, the story lines are very familiar: Hindu temples desecrated; prominent members of the Hindu community – professors, doctors, engineers, businessmen - murdered in cold blood; Hindu homes destroyed; women and young girls raped in front of family members; Minority girls kidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam; ancestral land grabbed; women's modesty ravaged and dignity stripped away; family killed or threatened to leave the country, etc.
