I have not said a single word against Islam. I have simply said that there are many versions of Islam (and for that matter any other religion and and even any ideology). Your version is quite different from that of spokeperson of Hefajat-e-Islam. Hefajat will uproot the atheists while you will happily live with them. But your conviction does not seem to be strong. While I am alarmed by Hefajat's threat, you seem to be cool. Also while I see Hefajat's concern about garment workers' decent dress as superfluous and hence meaningless (why the poor workers will wear indecent dresses any way!) and covert form of male chauvinism, you seem to highlight it as a valid argument. One may interpret such a behavior of yours as a sympathetic tone to Hefajat's discrimination against women. I am not surprised that a feminist like Farida apa has been upset by such a behavior.

a leader of Hifajat-e-Islam. He was saying in a strong voice that no atheist had place in Bangladesh.

>>>>>>>>>>>> Guess we are talking about apples and oranges here. I was talking about ISLAM and you are mentioning about some leader from "Hefazat-e-Islam". While it is shocking to hear but I do not see any problem being an atheist in Bangladesh. You can carry on your belief and no one is going to disturb you. HOWEVER if anyone goes around and start delivering hate speeches, they should be challenged.

In fact most of "Hefazat-e-Islam" leaders were asked to explain their positions in various talk shows in Bangladesh. This opportunity was helpful to remove some misunderstanding and some people openly rejected their ideas.

For example, one such leader explained (Few hours ago) that, they are NOT against women folks working in garment industry but they like to see them in decent dresses and down the road provide facilities for women should be developed.

Therefore, let people come up with ideas and proposals, we still retain the right to accept them or not accept them.

People of Bangladesh are not fanatics. That is the reason different political parties were elected in last four elections. If government fails to deliver their promises, they can be removed peacefully.

We may have some differences of opinions but I think we can unite to make our democracy stronger. Let average people decide what is good for our country not few people.

Hefazat-e-Islam came to public light recently. Let them explain their positions clearly, it they fail, people will reject them. If they have merit, people will support them.

Shalom!
