Is it the editor of the Prothom Alo who apologized to the Khatib for hurting the feelings of the Muslims by publishing a so called anti-Islamic cartoon although the cartoonist had no intention to insult his dear prophet and religion?
There is nothing wrong in publicly apologizing to the Shahbagis for undermining the role of this great movement. This will rather remove the misunderstanding as regards his role in recent movements. Apologizing for wrongdoings (intentional or unintetional) will ease the tension on both the sides.

Fictional stories usually have fictional characters; this story revolves around a real-life woman activist in the Sahbag movement. Even if we consider it as a fictional story
>>>>>>>>>> That is why I have SUPPORTED withdrawing the story (Albeit it was reported as fiction). As I said before, none of our works, words and actions should hurt people (Male or female). If we can make this world a little better, I consider that a success.
As I said, Prothom-Alo did the "Right thing". However some of us are overreacting as well (personal opinion).
We live in an environment where character assasination of "REAL people" are marketed as "Free speech" (Really hate speech) and people are "Fight mode" over fictional character in a well known progressive newspaper.
Well the author felt he made a mistake and it would be better if we can move on.
Some of the people felt that, just withdrawing the story was not enough. The editor of Prothom-Alo have to appear at "Gonojagoron Moncho" and publicly offer apology.
It will be interesting, if they get such an "Apology"(Forced).
Shalom!

QR: "Gentlemen and ladies this was a FICTION." Fictional stories usually have fictional characters; this story revolves around a real-life woman activist in the Sahbag movement. Even if we consider it as a fictional story, the writer's intent was to paint the image that those women activists in the Sahbag are there just to look for love, nothing else. Ms. Majid is 100% right in her assertion that this writer has defamed and undermined all women in the society. People who cannot see this angle of the story are, either consciously or unconsciously, supporting the radical Islamist views of the woman. Jiten Roy
