I feel despite many problems we face today, we are going to move forward with BANGLA language. We live in a country name BANGLAdesh and it is inevitable that, we'll be the flag bearer of this language.
Economy helps in this respect. Let me share a little data with you.
Meanwhile, even a few months back, a dollar traded for Rs 54 in India. Now a dollar costs Rs 60.
In 1986, a rupee traded for Tk 2.5. In 1999, the gap reduced to Tk 1.14. Now, despite the ups and downs over the last decade, a rupee is between Tk 1.20 and Tk 1.30.
Just like the USA carrying the English language all over the world, the "Bangals" from BD will do the same.

Totally rubbish! Based on what? Needless to say that the quality of our Bangladeshi literature is dismally poor in comparison to West Bengal literary works. I have no problem confessing this unpalatable truth. We speak and write poorly in compared to our Western brothers and sisters. Yes, we got country but we have not achieved the quality yet.

Good point. However more importantly in west bengal middle class and upper class bengalis are sending their kids to Hindi and English schools. They are not interested in Bangla. Economically Bengalis in west Bengal are not well. They only dream of getting a job not becoming a business man. In Bangladesh the case is very different. Despite political and corruption issues, we are making steady progress.
Maybe? The question is why it has not happened in the past? What has really changed? The quality writing is still rare and I have not come across anything great in last twenty years. If you find one, please let me know.

It is high time for Bangladeshis to grow up and show that they can do better. Threatening West-Bengal Bengalees with such strong language is counterproductive. This is a typical sign of Bangladeshi emotional immaturity. The door was open to every but Bangladeshis did not show up in the Sammelan. I never got any VIP invitations but I attended in some of them whenever I could and afford.

I was once in the editorial board of the Banga Sammelan magazine more than twenty years back. From my experience in that organizational capacity, I would say that Banglaees of both Bengals have some blame to share for the absence of many Bangladeshi groups there.
Talking about Taslima Nasrin, my experience is that the principal players of Banga Sammelan want that gathering to remain apolitical, and do not want sensitive socio-political issues there. However, I would also say that most of them probably do not care to see a book-banning mentality there.

One reason I don't participate in Bangalee Shammelan is because a few years back when I wanted to go to the one in NYC, a special invited guest was Taslima Nasrin. The book that they discussed in there was a banned book of Taslima Nasrin.

First find out why Bangladeshi representation is so low, then blame Indian-Bangalee for the lack of representation. I personally know the founder-organizer of this organization; he tells me that - they try every year to bring representation from Bangladesh, but it never gets materialized due to the lack of interest from the Bangladeshi counterparts. I experienced it first hand when this conference was held in New York many years back.
Also, do you know - how many parallel competing Bangladeshi-Bangalee organizations exist now? When I checked last time, there were at least two organizations, one of them (FOBANA) is holding a Bangalee-conference in August at Atlanta, I believe. So, do not try to use everything for politics.

শ্রেয়া ঘোষালের গানে গানে গত রোববার শেষ হলো জমজমাট বঙ্গ সম্মেলন। পাঁচ-ছয় হাজার দর্শকশ্রোতা মধ্যরাত অবধি এই অনুষ্ঠান উপভোগ করে। দর্শকশ্রোতার ভিড় সামলাতে পুলিশ হিমশিম খেতে হয়। আগামী বছর ৩৪তম সম্মেলন অনুষ্ঠিত হবে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ফ্লোরিডায়। 'বাংলার নব জাগরণ' শীর্ষক তিনদিনব্যাপী এ সম্মেলন টরন্টোতে শুরু হয়েছিল গত ৫ জুলাই।
তবে এবারের বঙ্গ সম্মেলনে বাংলাদেশ নেই, শুধুমাত্র বাংলাদেশি চিত্রশিল্পীদের চিত্র প্রদর্শনী ছাড়া। এর জন্য ভারতীয় বাঙালিদের অনীহা আর উদাসীনতা লক্ষণীয়! তারা দায়সারাভাবে বাংলাদেশকে মূল্যায়ন করে বলে অনেকের অভিযোগ। এবার ভিসার জটিলতার কারণে বাংলাদেশ থেকে ফাতেমা-তুজ-জোহরা এবং বারী সিদ্দিকী অংশ নিতে পারেননি। তবে চিত্রনায়িকা ববিতা এবং শিল্পী তপন চৌধুরী কানাডায় অবস্থান করছেন। শিল্পী হিসেবে কর্তৃপক্ষ তাদের আমন্ত্রণ করতে পারতেন।
