Re: [mukto-mona] Half truth is dangerous than lie!!

Of course, Mr. Rahman, you can file a defamation law suit against people who defame your prophet, but, please remember - you need to prove the "truth" beyond reasonable doubt. Can you do that? You can't. Therefore, defamation law suits for religion will remain a pipe dream of some people in a modern society. But, such pipe dream can be a reality in some religious societies, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc.

There is nothing in the religion that can be proven in the court of law. Religion is - he said, she said. Nobody knows which version is right. Religious books are not written by original instigators, so it is quite natural that - different people will give different accounts of the same event. The truth may be laying somewhere in between those stories or may be nothing there; those stories could be totally imaginary. Who knows? Therefore, it will be only those blind-faith believers, who will  put 100% confidence in any of those stories.

AL and a religion are not the same thing. Criticism of a political party and its actions is a democratic right. If you, however, blatantly defame or misrepresent AL you can be in great trouble as some one can sue you. Religion is faith-based and this faith has many levels. My faith level should not be the standard. The state should not as such have any say on criticism of a religion. Only open exchanges of views and perspectives should be the solutions.

There should be some liable and defamation law suits against blatant misrepresentation of the truth by some Sushil-Samajis.

>>>>>>>>>> I agree. I have been saying the same exact thing when we discuss the blatant distortion and misrepresentation about Islam and prophet Muhammad (PBUH). I remember many members in this forum tried to (without logic) lodge personal attacks against me and trying to connect the concept of freedom of speech with it. Among civil society there are people who support BAL and those who do not. If anyone says anything inaccurate about BAL, that can be addressed and should be addressed. Sadly when it comes to Islam or prophet Muhammad (PBUH) our honorable (Some of them) lose their common sense and spread non-sense into the discussion for months. My two cents over the non-sense. :-) Shalom!

The so-called independent Sushil-Samaj is polluted by politics and religion. As a result, many of these Sushil-Samajis are allergic to Bangalee-Jatiotabad, which is the ideology of Awami League.

As I said in my previous posting - Awami League needs to launch aggressive campaign to against these so-called independent commentators. People need to know and understand who they are, and what they really stand for. I am glad that Awami League is planning to do just that. Unmasking those fake independent commentators is the most important step for Awami League right now. They need to be really aggressive. Bangladeshi media are flooded with propaganda. There should be some liable and defamation law suits against blatant misrepresentation of the truth by some Sushil-Samajis.
