Brutality Beyond Belief
Open Question to Prime Minister and Opposition Leader
By Shafi Ahmed Chowdhury

May I ask you madam Sheikh Hasina and madam Khaleda Zia to go back on 5th November 2013 and recall what you did the whole day from morning to evening. I am not interested in what all the work that you did that day. I am only interested to know: could you the two take your meals that day – the breakfast, the lunch and the dinner? I am sure you could or did. Because if you couldn't or didn't then definitely your flatters around you would have blared out by calling press conferences before the TV media. But no such things happened so far that we watched.

I am asking this question to you the two, because one of you is Jono Netri (leader of the people) and other one is Desho Netri (leader of the country). By those titles we the common people plainly understand that one way or other these two "leaders" are closely related to people and they naturally feel very concerned for people – the way a mother cares or feel concerned for her children. If that is so then we should obviously feel sure that on the 5th November 2013 they could not take there meals. The reason is very simple and let me put it before you why.

On 5th November in the Daily Star an extremely tragic and horrific report "Brutality Beyond Belief" was published on the first page with red heading. The report was so painful, so horrific that except for a mad or a dead man everybody would feel shocked, shattered and traumatised. The report portrayed a gruesome picture of a burnt-out body that was looking like an alien. He was burnt by a gruesome arson attack by so-called "miscreants". Just look at his wretched father, he was watching the charred body of his son! How can a father bear this!

The report also portrayed an extremely heart-breaking story of two minor girls Mahi and Moushumi who could not realise why their father was not coming back home. They are too minor to realise that their father Mukul was dead out of arson attack. Moreover, there were many other stories covered in the report which would simply shake your bodies if you are a human.

Most tragically, the day before night it was also shown on the TV media that two extremely tender-aged and sinless children were crying helplessly with innocent faces, looking agape at their mother's heart-breaking wailing. Maybe they also failed to realise that their father Mostafiz was a wretched victim of dreadful arson attack and would never come back to them again.

To some extent the heartbreaking tears of the tender-aged children and their mothers was bearable with heavy heart, although it is absolutely unacceptable that their fathers were killed by burning fire. But in the case of 14-year-old boy Monir the scene was so ghastly that he was looking like an alien coming from another planet. Although the awful picture was published with hazes in the Daily Star, still it looked so unbearable!

In our present situation, there is no dearth of doubt that these two "people's leaders" madam Hasina and madam Khaleda didn't see the gruesome picture of the 14-year-old boy in the Daily Star and in many other newspapers as lead news or the heartbreaking sobbing of the tender-aged children on the TV media. Now the question is to madam Hasina and madam Khaleda: how could you take your meals on the 5th November? If you really claim to be the lovers of people, it can be assumed that you would have simply lost your appetite that day after seeing this ghastly violence on innocent people and loss of life in helpless families. Moreover, the look of the 14-year-old boy Monir was so ghastly that he would possibly die very soon because he was burnt 90%.

But I can tell you for sure that the sophisticated chefs under your disposal had served you the two very neat-arranged breakfasts with juice, tea or coffee of fine quality on that day. They also had served you with fresh and healthy items of your choice during lunch and dinner. And at the end of the day on the 5th November after passing a "very busy" day obviously dealing mostly with political matters you the two went to bed and had a nice sleep to wake up afresh the next morning.

Now the question is: how could you do this? It's like Nero was playing on his flute when Rome was burning. But I wonder have you madam Hasina ever thought your loving son Joy has been burnt this way and you are looking at your son's charred body? Or have you madam Khaleda ever thought that your son Tareq has been burnt and you are looking at your son's alien-like body? I don't think you have ever done that. Because it is not your cup of teas. You the two are dead sure that nothing like the arson attack with gunpowder will ever touch your sons. They all are well-guarded because they are not common people like us – or neither you the two and your bigwigs around you.

There is no dearth of doubt that either of you madam Hasina or madam Khaleda will become prime minister of Bangladesh again. For taking your office you will also have to sign the oath. But will you ever stop for a moment at the time of signing recalling that because of your arrogance, haughtiness and ego the killers of your party killed or maimed so many people and destroyed so many lives and families. It is for your headstrongness and self-centred interest common people get bullied, suffer and die on streets, but you never miss the finest breakfast and delicious lunch or dinner, or becoming prime minister. What a tragedy that even you the two talked over phone for 37 minutes but you could not settle anything! The reason is – you don't want to. The more you can linger it the more you will be benefited. Our history says so. You always apply the classic technique of blaming each other, but never give concessions for compromise with goodness.

We the common people watch everyday the criminal-looking youngsters are pouring petrol or gunpowder and setting alight busses or scooters even though there are people inside them. When we people can see them why not the law enforcement authorities. If these criminals are caught by watching TV footages and hanged in summary trials then no one would have dared to do this again. But neither Awami League nor BNP is willing to do this. Because either these people are their men or they want to take advantage out of these blood-lettings or both. In fact, it's like well-defined, well-formulated political chess-game. There is a well-set series of moves which pave the way for getting to power and plundering the country. When we know these fire-setters are murders, then why you madam Hasina and madam Khaleda are indulging them? Don't you feel for a moment that how common people are becoming helpless and lost, after losing their nears and dears?

Before I finish this write-up please remind you one thing. No human is immortal. You the two may live a little longer than we the commoners, because you get fine foods, best treatments and immense recreation. But you have to die one day – maybe in maximum 30 years time as per our life expectancy. Just bear in mind, if you ever with your conscience plan, promote, indulge, support or patronise these incredible and untold sufferings and killings of the innocent common people, just in plus-minus 30 years time the same suffering will be bestowed upon you by Allah. Because the Almighty Allah may pardon if anyone does any injustice to Him, but He never pardons if anyone does injustice to His best creation – the human beings. Planning, promoting, indulging and patronising murder is tantamount to doing the same! It can't be excused. God shall never pardon it.

And lastly we are NOT the Jonogon (people) that you politicians claim to be. Your Jonogon are the flatters around you only.
