Bangladeshi expatriates on Wednesday expatriates stage demonstration outside the UK House of Parliament demanding Mueen's deportation to Bangladesh -
Bangladeshi expatriates have urged the UK government to revoke convicted war criminal Chowdhury Mueenuddin's citizenship and extradite him to Bangladesh. The expatriates on Wednesday staged a demonstration outside the UK House of Parliament demanding Mueen's deportation to Bangladesh. The information was disclosed in a press release on Wednesday which stated the demonstration took place from 10:30am to 12pm Wednesday. The expatriates demanded the UK government revoke Choudhury Mueenuddin' s British citizenship and upheld its principle that no war criminals will be given a safe haven in the UK. Earlier on November 3, the war crimes tribunal sentenced fugitive al-Badr leaders Chowdhury Mueen Uddin and Ashrafuzzaman Khan to death for their involvements in the killing of 18 intellectuals between December 11 and 15, 1971. Following the verdict, Chowdhury Mueenuddin in an interview to the BBC said the recent verdict that sentenced him to death was "corrupt." Mueenuddin was absent during the trial process in spite of being asked by the tribunal to appear before it.
