I am unable to understand - why people are still supporting and giving impunity to continue political tactics of inflicting horror in the minds of innocent people. Why are people supporting killing and burning of innocent day-laborers, children, rickshaw-pullers, and innocent bystanders on the street every day? What could be the justification for Hartal a few months before the election? Is it for a caretaker government? That time has passed and that demand is dead. Government has resigned, and an apolitical government is formed. There is no point fighting to bring down the government that has already resigned. Now, there is no justification for paralyzing and terrorizing the country with party hooligans. That will not bring more political support for BNP. In fact, it will alienate people from their side. This type of action works only when people are behind the cause, as it was during the liberation struggle. The situation is not like that; now it's being done by party hooligans. Now more terrorism by BNP/Jamat means more blessing for Awami League.
I understand that BNP did not get the type of caretaker government that they wanted. This situation should be exploited to mobilize public support for BNP before the election. I think, public will respond favorably towards them if they can exploit it. Instead, they are attacking public. What good this can bring for BNP/Jamat? Nothing, at all!
I believe, BNP once held the inevitable prospect of winning the election, but now – that situation is changing fast, due to the unprecedented level of atrocity on the innocent people. By this act, they may have thrown away the victory. Unleashing terrorism and hardship on general public will not increase political support. All you need is sustained campaign to motivate public support; Hartal and terrorism are not the right means to achieve that objective.

আহত সাবেদ আলী জানান, মঙ্গলবার বেলা একটার দিকে গুলশান এক নম্বর থেকে এক যাত্রীকে নিয়ে হাতিরপুলের উদ্দেশ্যে রওয়ানা দেন। হাতিরপুলের নাহার গার্ডেনের সামনে যাত্রীকে নামিয়ে দিয়ে ভাড়া নিতেই কয়েকজন পিকেটার তার গাড়িতে পেট্রোল ঢেলে আগুন ধরিয়ে দেয়। গাড়ি থেকে বের হওয়ার আগেই তার শরীরের কাপড়ে আগুন ধরে যায়। পরে পথচারীরা চালকের আসনের গ্রীল খুলে সাবেদ আলীকে উদ্ধার করে।
ঢাকা মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালের বার্ন ইউনিটের আবাসিক সার্জন ডা. পার্থ শঙ্কর পাল জানান, সাবেদ আলীর নাভী থেকে মুখ পর্যন্ত পুড়ে গেছে। তার শরীরের ১৫ শতাংশ অগ্নিদগ্ধ হয়েছে।
আহত সাবেদ আলী তার পরিবারের সাথে সবুজবাগের বাসাবো রাজারবাগ কালিমন্দিরের ৫২ নম্বর বাড়িতে ভাড়া থাকেন। সাবেদ আলী গাইবান্ধা জেলার সুন্দরগঞ্জ থানার চন্ডীপুর গ্রামের নোয়াব আলীর ছেলে।
এদিকে, সোমবার সন্ধ্যায় জয়পুরহাট শহরে পিকেটারদের ছোঁড়া ককটেলের আঘাতে আহত হন পুলিশ কনস্টেবল দুলু মিয়া। তার মাথা ও দুই চোখ ককটেলের স্প্লিন্টারে ক্ষতবিক্ষত হয়। মঙ্গলবার ভোরে জয়পুরহাট থেকে তাকে ঢাকা মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। বর্তমানে তিনি ১০৩ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডে চিকিত্সাধীন রয়েছেন। ঢাকা মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালের জরুরী বিভাগের কর্তব্যরত চিকিত্সক জানিয়েছেন, দুলালের ডান চোখ নষ্ট হয়ে গেছে। এছাড়া তার মাথায় আঘাত বেশ গুরুতর হওয়ায় তার অবস্থা আশঙ্কাজনক।
