Re: [mukto-mona] Our Forefathers in East Bengal in 1951 and Recent Immigrants to the USA

The statement below by a fellow named QR, who puts a lot of rubbish in this forum, is preposterous. This is a perfect example of the fact that religiously brainwashed idiotic minds are irrational not only in terms of their blind following of religions.

>>>>>>>>> This discussion had NOTHING to do with religion but I noticed it is a constant issue with you. With impunity you show intolerance with anyone who disagree with your set of ideas. How can you expect to be accepted if you cannot tolerate an opinion?

Were our forefathers in East Bengal like the recent immigrants to the USA? Bangalees were the overwhelmingly majority population of the then East Pakistan. They were also majority in the entire country of Pakistan. They were the people of the land, quite unlike new immigrants.

>>>>>>>>> It was a rhetorical question. One of the great aspects of America is it offer ample room for all kind of people and a lot of different opinions. Let me ask another question, other than criticizing this country in every way possible, have YOU done anything to preserve language or culture of our tribal people?

Would you dared to talk this way, if I was an "All American man"? I have serious doubts about it. ;-)

Also if you read history of your country (America), you will discover than, American took over parts of Mexico and rest from native Americans. Did the English speaking settlers assimilate with the Hispanic population of New Mexico, Arizona or California? Did they honor any tradition, language of NATIVE AMERICANS?

So I do not think except ignorant Americans (Who are not known for their education) scream loudly about English language and immigrants. Immigrants know that they can have a better quality of life if they learn English and most of them do so. Forcing them to any language is pure stupid.

Who were the 'federal government'? Some illegitimate feudal and military dictators.

>>>>>>> Of course. If I was talking about Indian federal government, it would have been gosh darn perfect, right? Even giving a simple example from history is a damn crime with our "Highly educated" members!!

How pathetic is this?

Was there a valid reason for our forefathers to give up Bangla and assimilate with Urdu? The answer "No" is obvious to any rational person, apparently not to QR.

>>>>>>>>> Factually incorrect. I thought intelligent people are capable of talking about an idea in a civilized way. I stand corrected.

I did not say I was supporting or attacking Bangla or urdu. Simply I was discussing a concept with another member. NOTHING more.

Let me stop here and let others try to educate people like QR.

>>>>>> I always welcome education. However I prefer it from civilized and cultured people (Who can deal with an idea without going mental). 8-)

Shalom!

Many recent immigrants  ;(to the USA) prefer to use their own language, and, therefore, mix with their own community only; many of them do not even bother to learn English. They are the new backward class. (This was from Dr. Jiten Roy.)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Your forefathers (During 1951) refused to ass imilate to the language of the federal government (Urdu) and give up their language (Bangla), so why the double standard? (This garbage was from QR)
