I could not careless what people do behind their locked doors. But, if people try to show and prove that the homosexuality as something great and beautiful, I say, stop there! Please practice it discretely and prudently. I got no problem with homophile or heterophile.

সমকামিতা নিষিদ্ধ হল ভারতে

পুরুষদের সমকামিতা নিষিদ্ধের আইন বহাল রাখল ভারতের সর্বোচ্চ আদালত। এই রায়ের ফলে পুরুষদের সমকামিতাকে শাস্তিযোগ্য অপরাধ হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হবে।

২০০৯ সালে ভারতের হাইকোর্টে সমকামিতাকে বৈধতা দিয়ে একটি আইন পাশ হয়। তখন একাধিক রাজনৈতিক, সামাজিক ও ধর্মীয় সংগঠন এই আইনের বিরুদ্ধে সর্বোচ্চ আদালতে পিটিশন করে। ভারতের ১৪৮ বছরের পুরনো ঔপনিবেশিক আইনে সমলিঙ্গের বিয়েকে 'অস্বাভাবিক অপরাধ' হিসেবে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। বুধবার সুপ্রিম কোর্টের এই রায়ের মাধ্যমে ঔপনিবেশিক আইনকেই বহাল রাখা হল।

ভারতের সমকামী অধিকার কর্মীরা এই রায়কে 'হতাশাজনক' বলে উল্লেখ করেছে এবং রিভিউ এর জন্য তারা আদালতে আবেদন করবে বলেও জানায়।

সর্বোচ্চ আদালতের কাছ থেকে এরকম সিদ্ধান্ত পুরোপুরি অপ্রত্যাশিত বলে জানান সমকামীদের পক্ষের আইনজীবী অরবিন্দ নারায়ন। তিনি এই দিনকে 'কালো দিবস' বলেও উল্লেখ করেন।

ভারতের আমনেস্টি ইন্টারন্যাশনালের পক্ষ থেকেও এই রায়ের বিরুদ্ধে নিন্দা জানানো হয়েছে।

এদিকে এই রায়কে স্বাগত জানিয়েছে ভারতের ধর্মীয় সংগঠনগুলো। রায়ের বিরুদ্ধে পিটিশনকারী মুসলিম ও খ্রিষ্টান সম্প্রদায় একে বিশেষভাবে স্বাগত জানিয়েছে।
