[mukto-mona] Re: {PFC-Friends} Re: Stupids on Anti-Islam bandwagon...

US people and US govt are totally two different levels with respect to their knowledge of middle-east/Muslim wold. The US govt knows pretty much what goes on but intentionally keep the US people (thanks to Israeli lobby and stronghold on US) ignorant and biased against the Muslim world to sell their ill-acts, such as Iraq war.

You're right about Hammas. Hassas is not ISIS or any more terrorist organization than Israel is ...the rest of the world knows that. Hammas is fighting to liberate their homeland. They are not launching any global attack. As you said, Hammas was voted in by the people and like the US/EU did not like the outcome in Egypt's Morsi, they did not like the outcome of the Palestine's democracy. That's why Hammas had to go. But, I would primarily hold the Palestinian people responsible for not throwing out loser Abbas (Fatah) who forcefully overturned their consent.   If the Palestinian cannot fight the dictator at home and divide themselves, how are they going to fight the Imperial occupier Israel (politically)?

People should know the biggest misconception of US or any Western power. They talk about big ideas like democracy and human rights. But until  these demand for 'moral principles' like democracy & human rights and their national interests (like in Egypt)  do not concur, they do not take any action.  Only when the national interests and call for democracy/human rights are in the same page, US will act.  This happened in WWII, Cold war, Bosnia, Afganistan etc.  Since it is not in US's national interests to actively demand democracy in Saudia, Egypt, China etc. US will not take any adverse step. US's commercial interests supersede the principles.

Regards and Salam to all,

Some sorts of ignorance and misgivings are all around! A few examples:

In 1992-94 in our Politics of Alternative Development Strategies (PADS) class (21 students from around the world, including Canada, USA, & UK) in The Hague, we have had this sort of discussions, such as on female-circumcision. I told them this is mostly an African cultural issue.

Dr. Kamal Hossain was one of the two speakers at the 40th anniversary of the School of Social Studies (an affiliate of Rotterdam University). He was also making some sweeping comments about problems in the Muslim countries. As an audience I challenged/questioned some of his wrong views, such as female representation (Khaleda Zia was then our PM). I told them, even Iran have had more than 20 reps. in their parliament, including a Vice-Chair at that time. In the refreshment time, he confessed that he did not know that. I asked him did he not see an Iranian female poet visiting Bangladesh and showed up in a BTV program? He did not know that.

Our British-classmate, Mr Morris, then a local councilor from Lodon, UK, confessed to us he did not know that even women have had voting rights in Iran.

Dr. Reza is mostly correct. But he also needed to differentiate among some issues of the KSA, Iran, and Pakistan, as he mentioned. He also made some sweeping comments about some Islamic organizations, such as Hamas, which emerged from the failure of Fatah, especially for its corruptions (Mrs. Suha, wife of late Arafat, is one of the wealthiest persons in Palestine, probably now she lives in Italy, where she comes from). Hamas was elected by all Palestinians not only for Gaza, but in the West Bank too in 2006. Western countries in collaboration with Israel and corrupt-Abbas-gangs of Fatah made a situation, especially with attack from Israel,  (as they did it in Algeria in 1992, and in Egypt in 2013) to oust Hamas and corner it into Gaza only. Had Hamas been allowed to run the government, the situation would have been different now. This is the double-standard of the so-called democratic countries of the West.

By the way, a daughter-in-law of Palestinian Negotiator (at that time Hamas was not on the scene) was our classmate in the Netherlands (1992-94). She wanted to contest as president in the school student-government. I told her, even I would not vote for her, because of some reasons, which were worse than our Christian girl-classmates (Sorry to say all these)! I was the Bangladesh Country Rep. (about 25 students in two overlapping groups)  at that time. She refrained from contest, finally.

Just a mention: Orthodox Christians of Iritrea who run the country belong to Christianity too.

Thanks,

Zainul

 Reza so eloquently
makes the point, it's not the religion who kills
people....it's the people who kills people. 1.
Mao Zedong   - killed 78 million people
 2.
Joseph stalin  - killed 23 million
 3.
Adolf Hitler     - killed 17 million
 .....4.
US/UK killed  1+ killed in Iraq
 I
hope a lot of people here in this post take a respite in
jumping on the low  bash-the-Islam bandwagon for their
 instant gratification.
