I agree with Dr. Dewan - these thugs need to receive unprecedented punishment to send a message. The question is - will that happen?
I am not ready to blame Awami League for this particular senseless act of violence, in which a religious minority person had to give his life, and many others had to endure such atrocities, on the hands of Awami-cadres, just for a goddamn fishing expedition.
Something is seriously wrong with the people in Bangladesh; I feel this way every time I watch Bangladeshi TV news, which is filled with similar incidences every day. I see, people perpetrating senseless barbaric acts on silly grounds. It seems like - they have lost perspectives of life altogether; life's been so cheap there. I stopped watching news on Bangladeshi TV channels.
Yes, Awami League has been responsible for other violence against religious minorities in the past, only to score political points against BNP/Jamat. But, this is probably a coincidence. Nonetheless, these are Awami-thugs, terrorizing people in the region for a long time. Awami League should have taken care of them long back, but that did not happen; I hope it will happen now.

My Perspective:
If the accused are found guilty beyond any reasonable doubt, they must suffer the grotesque punishment of death penalty -- not by hanging or gassing -- by clubbing them with the same knives they used to kill a member of their village community -- that will be an eye for an eye.
Thank you for your attention, .
