Re: [mukto-mona] Death of Religion is Near

Death of religions has occurred before. Nature is said to abhor vacuum. So one is simply replaced by another. Meanwhile people seeking money and fame go on talking and writing about the birth and death of religions.

"Death of Religion is Near" is indeed a wishful thinking. Religions will certainly die naturally, unless if humans destroy the world sooner than that by things like nuclear bombs. The natural process for the demise of religions will take time. Even if there were to be revolutions to kill religions, that would also take time.

It's not a crystal ball prediction, it's a logical prediction. If you read the article, you will know church attendances are dwindling. It has been a worry of the church. This could be due to many factors, such as, conscious people have no trust in Priests, or they know better. The same thing will happen to other religious institutions, in fact, it is happening. More and more people are losing faith in religion. I never dreamed of seeing a single atheist coming out of  the  Islamic faith in my life, but - now I see thousands, risking their lives to give up religion. Don't you see the trend?
Also, I am not talking about Madrassa students; they are minority. I am talking about the majority, who have access to those devices, and they are finding out everything about their religion. Religious Mumbo-Jumbos from the religious figures are going to be difficult to sell to these people in the future. And, this is not based on my crystal ball prediction, it is actually my logical conclusion.

Are you now crystal balling? How many mullahs or madrassa students or Hindu ashram students have you seen surfing internet? I think, your prediction is nothing but a wishful thinking.

Death of religion is near, and it is a must. This will happen due to easy access to news and information now-a-days. Priests and Mullahs can't feed controlled illogical religious information anymore. When house of worships lose control of the so-called religious information, faith in those institutions will decay, and conscious people will find illogical religious messages unbelievable. Now, instead of going to the Priests and Mullahs to have answers to their queries, people go to the computers or cell phones.
While the death of religions is evident and welcomed, the death of God may not be so. This is because, the belief in a higher-power is ingrained in human nature, and it will remain so even after religions are dead.

Also, secularism does not mean disbelief in God. I am not sure why Western Pundits cannot understand this point. Non-belief of religion is not secularism, and non-belief of religion does not automatically translate into disbelief in God, as described in the following article.
