Process for large-scale promotions at final stage

A large number of officers are busy lobbying high-ups for promotion with the government finalising the lists of senior assistant secretaries, deputy secretaries and joint secretaries for promotion already due to them.
The Superior Selection Board on Tuesday held the concluding meeting over the planned promotions with the cabinet secretary, Muhammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, in the chair.
The meeting scrutinised the lists of senior assistant secretaries for promotion to deputy secretary, said officials.
The government was considering promotion of around seven hundred officials at a time, of them 80 officials to the rank of additional secretary, over 250 to joint secretary and 350 to deputy secretary although there are no vacant positions in the approved organogram, said a senior official.
