Re: [mukto-mona] [Mukto-Mona Writers' Corner] TITLE

We often hear - Islam is the fasted growing religion on earth, meaning Islam is the most popular religion on earth.

>>>>>>>>>> It is the fastest growing but Christianity has more population.

My first question is - why is that so, in spite of all negative publicity arising from the worldwide terrorisms commit mostly by the Islamist-groups? Second question is – does this growth represent a bright future for Islam going forward?

>>>>>>>>>>>>> yes, it is a small miracle. Despite such a negative media, it is growing very fast. Violence in most cases are committed by political groups. Those who focus on religion stay away from violence unless if your country is under attack. Iraq is an good example of that. It used to be run by a secular leader but thanks to USA, it is full of hyper religious people!!

Despite the growth rate, Muslims need to evolve to take responsibility of becoming member of a large religious group. Many countries are still searching for their Islamic model of their choice to fit within their society. In recent years Turkey has been a success story. It is still a secular country but people elected a religious leaning group to run it.

This is what I think. Islam is the latest major religion on earth, and it is still going through the rising evangelical renaissance, which most other contemporary religions have already gone through, and now either reached  at the plateau or facing decline due to lack of interest in them.

>>>>>>>>>> Most Muslim majority countries have been colonies of non-Muslim countries even 100 years ago. So they are still new in running democratic systems and good governance issues. Once they sort of some of the basic issues, the growth will continue.

So, I would not make wager on this growth, since the over all trend in the world is towards indifference of religious faith. It is not hard to see the difference between a religious and an irreligious people.

>>>>>>>>> Growth will continue. New countries from south America, China, central asia are showing interest in Islam. Most western countries continue to go against their media coverage of Islam and embracing Islam in large numbers.

We can look at religious people in Bangladesh and judge which way to take.  Many of their leaders are accused of crimes against humanity. Do we want more of them in the society? If you do, you must examine your head ASAP.

>>>>>>>>>>>>> Again you are empowering hypocrites who committed crimes in the name of Islam. Most Muslims of Bangaldesh do not abuse religion in political realm. Think of Maulana Bhashani, Maulana Abdur Rahman Tarkabagis and many others.

We Muslims know the difference between the "Real deal" and "Pretenders".

Shalom!
