Subject: Press Releases: Open Skies Agreement with the People's Republic of Bangladesh
08/16/2013 11:02 AM EDT Open Skies Agreement with the People's Republic of BangladeshOffice of the Spokesperson Washington, DC August 16, 2013 On August 15 in Washington, D.C., delegations representing the United States and the People's Republic of Bangladesh initialed a U.S.-Bangladesh Open Skies Air Transport Agreement formalizing the liberalization of our bilateral aviation relationship. The Open Skies Agreement will enter into force upon signature. The Open Skies Agreement creates opportunities for strengthening the economic partnership between the United States and Bangladesh through closer links in transport and trade. Open Skies agreements allow air service by the airlines of both countries between and beyond the other's territory, allowing airline managements to determine how often to fly, the kind of aircraft to use, and the prices to charge. This agreement will strengthen and expand our strong trade, tourism and people-to-people links with Bangladesh, benefitting U.S. and Bangladeshi businesses and travelers by expanding opportunities for air services and encouraging vigorous price competition by airlines, while preserving our commitments to aviation safety and security. The United States has Open Skies agreements with over 100 partners around the world. PRN: 2013/1010 |
