কুণাল জাতক নামে বৌদ্ধ
শাস্ত্রের ৫৩৬ নম্বর জাতকে
কুণাল পুরুষদের উপদেশ দেন –
বলদ(ষাঁড়), ধেনু(গাভী), যান(বাহন)
ও রমণী এই চারটি কখনো অন্যের
আশ্রয়ে রাখতে হয়না। এদেরকে
নিজের আশ্রয়ে সুরক্ষিত রাখতে
হয়, তা না হলে সংকট তৈরি হয়। এই
সম্পর্কিত নীতিগাঁথায় কুণাল
বলেন-
