Re: [mukto-mona] Angola Bans Islam, Destroys Mosques

You can only speak about Islam as you understand it---that's all you should say. You and the terrorists read probably the same scriptures and get different messages from them. You should engage in debates with them. Even your view of Islam does not quite agree with the view of Islam of a progressive Muslim. So there is nothing to boast.

Your "crack down" example indicates that you have no problem in deviating a little bit from the scriptures. This is called dynamism. During 1965 Indo-Pak war Pakistani soldiers instructed to lie under the Indian tanks with mines attached to their bodies.

One teaching of Hindu religion is: Suicide is a great sin and one commits suicide goes to hell. But we see so many exceptions in history. There was some thing called Johor Broto that used to be practiced in Rajasthan. When the city fell to an attacker, the girls used to kill themselves by fire. The Sati custom also involved suicide. There is no shame in recognizing these. Religion must not dictate us what to do. Every thing religion says has to be scrutinized.

Our well respected "Crack platoon" (during 1971) worked under similar (Not exactly same but similar) ideology. Which had few members who would try to attack bases and stronghold of Pak army. As far as I know 99.9% Bangladeshi (Muslim or otherwise) do not have any issues with that. During second world war there were many groups like it.

The problem is when biased authors infers something absurd from history to blame Islam for it.

It would be idiotic for me to challenge your morality or religion (If you were practicing Hindu) about Hindus who commit genocide against Buddhist population in India.

Looks like your Islam is different from the Islam the terrorists are practicing.

>>>>>>>>>> Islam is a very structured religion. It is based on our scriptures ( The holy QurĂ¡n, Sunnah of the last prophet as primary sources). If anyone goes beyond these structures, you have to ask them to explain their action. Most Muslims work around these parameters.

I hope my answers were of some help.

I am not sure if the Islamic suicide bombers learnt it from the Hindu terrorists or not, but it should be recognized that Tamil suicide bombers did not target innocent civilians while Islamic suicide  bombers do not follow any such principle.

Looks like your Islam is different from the Islam the terrorists are practicing.

Extremism was manufactured into Islamic communities. Specifically suicide is prohibited in Islam. Suicide bombing was introduced by HINDU terrorists in Sri Lanka and during 80s fatwas were collected to support certain POLITICAL ideology in Afghanistan.

Many Christians died during WWll lead by a fanatic name Hitler. Generally Germans are known to be very rational people.

Recently we observed fanatic Buddhists engaging in ethnic cleansing mission in Myanmar against native Muslim population.

After WWll communist ideology justified murdering millions of people during cold war era.

While I am against violence in the name of religion. I am also certain Islam does NOT support killing innocent people or attacking civilians.

With due respect, I feel you should reconsider your opinion.

I beg to differ with you, Mr QR. The fanatics in religions, particularly in Islam, are not few; they are in large numbers. Just look at Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and the list goes on and on, where you will find no end of people who are happy to blow themselves up (along with some innocent bystanders) and dream of going straight into heaven! In some Islamic countries you don't see the suicide bombers only because they can't get hold of bombs. Should they get the bombs, they would do the same. This is the reality of the present day.

So, trying to eliminate 'tiny fringe fanatics' is a non-starter - this 'tiny fringe' is in fact a 'large majority' because they consider it their religious duty.

Wouldn't it be smarter to go after violent fanatics?

Most "Religious" people are neither violent or fanatic, so why should they suffer for a tiny fringe fanatics?

In some countries Islam will be banned, in other countries Christianity will be banned, yet in other countries Judaism will be banned and so on and so forth. As long as there competing religions in the world and people are fanatic, these things are inevitable.
