People's spontaneous agitation at Shanir Akhra proves govt's failure: Hasina
Dhaka, May 6 (BDNEWS) –The Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina said the impulsive movement of the water and power-starved people of Shanir Akhra is just an outburst of people's resistance to the failure of BNP-Jamaat alliance government.
In a statement on Saturday, she said the ultimate result of the four and a half years' rule of the alliance government is crises of electricity, water, gas and diesel.
The opposition leader of the parliament expressed her resentment saying, "At one hand, price of essentials and unemployment rate are on the rise and on the other hand corruption, politicisation and terrorism of the alliance government is increasing simultaneously."
She alleged businessmen-ministers and syndicate of Hawa Bhaban of the top-to-bottom corrupt government have made all the sectors of the state, including electricity, water and energy reeling.
"People's representatives are meant to serve the people, however, ministers and legislators of the government are only busy maintaining their resort to luxury using the properties grabbed from the people," she said.
The opposition leader also said, "The government is trying to quell the movement of the people of Demra-Jatrabari using armed cadres of BNP. But following Kansat, Shanir Akhra again proved that no force can stand against united protest of the people."
She claimed that, Salauddin MP has established a reign of terror at Demra.
She demanded immediate solution of the electricity, water and gas crises and price control of necessaries.
She urged all the countrymen to forge an intense movement against the misrule of the alliance government to defend their rights.
