In spite of all the defects and shortcomings of  Ershad, he can not be equated with
your General Yahia Khan, under whose regime the greatest tragedy in our history
has occured (Genocide and /mass-rapes of 1971). The Gaddere Azam of all times,
Maulana Golam Azam collaborated with that foreign occupation .....
 
Your freak-analogy with Ershad is an explicit attempt to trivialize Yahia Khan's
occupation regime & and it's atrocities.....and Gaddar Golam Azam's 
collaboration with the Pakistani occupiers ....
 
BTW, just recall to-day's BNP stalwart Barrister Maudud's hobnobbing 
with Ershad :

vice president.  That last position he held on to right till the end of the Ershad

FYI, collaboration with the Foreign enemy (Pakistan Army engaged in Genocide & 
mass-rapes)  and maneuvering in national politics, even opportunistic, are two 
different things ....In 1971 November by-election, in which Gadder Golam Azam 
participated and was elected  unopposed , clearly showed his obedience to
Yahia Regime in 1971and condoning of Genocide and mass-rapes in
occupied Bangladesh (1971) .....

Thanks for emphasizing  the revelation ,,,,,, 
Golam was one of the main organizer of the killer Al-Bodor Bahini.
During 1971 War of Liberation,  Jamaate Islami was the only political
party that had organized it's own armed gestapo wing with it's 
cadres (mainly Islami Chattro Sangho).
 
When the military junta of Yahya Khan decided to call an election 
in a futile attempt to legitimise themselves (from November 25 to December 9, 1971),
Ghulam Azam decided to take part in this election.In this election Jamaat won 
14 of the uncontested seats[34] and Ghulam Azam became an uncontested member
and proved his allegiance to Yahia Khan's occupation regime engaged in genocide
and mass rapes. This is the true nature of Golam Azam (and his Jamaate Islami)
doing politics masquerading behind religious cover.
