[mukto-mona] Fwd: [ Hind . . .] Pakistan faces another split?

FYI........

Pakistan faces another split?
A M M Shahabuddin
Another warning for Pakistan's impending rift due to increasing anti-Pakistan agitation by the powerful Islamist militants, popularly known as Talibans, in Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan.
This time the danger signal has come from no other person then the father of Pakistan's nuclear energy, that veteran nuclear scientist, Dr. A. Q. Khan who has placed Pakistan in an enviable position of a nuclear power in the region, next to its arch-rival India. In return, Dr. Khan has been called a 'nuclear thief' and received most humiliating treatment from the government as directed by its 'guardians' from abroad. Dr. Khan had been put under rigorous 'house-arrest' for decades, shutting him off from out-side world and media. It is an encouraging sign that Dr. Khan had been successful in raising the danger signal against the coming destruction due to the wrong-policy of the government working under the diktat of other's to be in power with their blessings.

Dr. Khan, in a strongly-worded article, titled "the Events of 1971", published recently in the News International, sharply warned that Pakistan was now in a "worse situation" than it was in 1971, adding that Pakistan "would begin to disintegrate again." Accusing the Pakistani rulers who had been running the country in the name of democracy during last over six decades that they were "always under the illusion that they could and would crush their opponents", adding, that when they "could not manage to do that to a very docile nation (refering to Bangladesh) in 1971, how can they "contemplate crushing a martial-race (refering to the Pathans and Poshtuns) which "can burst out" any moment to give another shock to Pakistan leadership. The nuclear scientist also deplores that the Pakistani leadership has also "not-learnt any lesson" from their "past tragic mistakes" that led to the emergence of independent Bangladesh and a new member of the United Nations.
Killing of Bangladeshis
Referring to the killing of innocent people of former East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, in hundreds of thousands, and raping of women, Dr. Khan said that he was ashamed to see that such cruel acts could be perpetrated by Muslims against Muslims — Pakistanis against their fellow-Pakistanis. He admitted that the West Pakistanis "considered East Pakistan as a colony", and "treated its citizens in the same way as the British used to treat the West Pakistanis."
It may be recalled here that a similar warning was given by Pakistan's former legendary cricketer, who has now emerged as a major political leader Imran Khan. Imran also regretted that Pakistani leaders had not learnt any lesson from the 1971 tragedy and now they have created identical situation in Waziristan bordering Afghanistan. Poshtuns of Waziristan joined hands with Afghan Poshtuns to strengthen their struggle and create their independent land of Pashtunistan, like 'Bangladesh'.
Pakistan: Now a sinking ship?
In fact, Pakistan now almost appears a sinking ship, going down because of the misrule by its corrupt leadership, now headed by President Zardari. While Zardari is playing hide-and-seek with the corruption charges, his Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf is under Supreme Court order of being arrested on corruption charges. However, the court order has been challenged, bringing at least a temporary relief for the ruling leaders.
Whatever may be the out-come of the future leadership of Pakistan, one thing is certain that the rising Pashtuns of the north-west Pakistan, are almost on the verge of achieving their goal of establishing their own 'Pashtunistan', out of Pakistan and only a miracle can change the situation.
Besides, Pakistan, being the only Muslim country in the region, possessing nuclear power, had been facing increasingly external troubles, being fomented by its neighbours, big and small, in order to cripple its nuclear technology. Otherwise Pakistan might become a big rival of one of Asia's rising big power India.
Pakistani leaders now feeling heat?
However, Pakistan leaders seems to be feeling the growing heat of rising anti-Pakistan forces. Pakistan's PM Raja Parvez Ashraf had hinted to give up their war path with Islamist forces, like Talibans and hold talks with them to come to a peaceful solution. As regards holding of dialogue with the Talibans, Raja Ashraf had said: "We have to redesign and redefine our military doctrine to achieve our objective."
It is an open secret that America continues its drone attacks on Pakistani territory to kill and destroy Taliban forces, but kills innocent Pakistanis despite repeated requests by Pakistan government to stop such attacks. This has, of late, created a new dimension of increasing anti-US demonstrations by the people forcing Pakistan government to now face very delicate diplomatic problem.
