Re: [mukto-mona] As long as 8th Amend. is there Jamaat is a legitimate pol. party

Government needs to works on producing evidence in court of law. It has been around FOUR long years we are dealing with this issue. WHY people have to come down to streets to get BASIC justice? It was an election mandate and it would serve our country better if government officials stop popping up in Shahbag (It is supposed to be neutral platform) and devote to do the JOB they have. People gave them overwhelming majority vote to take care of the "War crime issue" in a transparent, acceptable way.

If mob justice was the answer, this could have been resolved 40 years ago pretty easily (They way "Tiger" Keder Siddiqi did in front of people). People of Bangladesh and families who lost loved once DESERVE a fair, transparent, OPEN trial. Both parties should present their cases and we should settle this national issue.

This is far more important then our current politics and should NOT divide our nation. Rather even the harshest critic should be silenced by integrity, clarity, transparency of our tribunal. (My personal opinion) an open and fair trial should stand as a warning to any future aspirant future "Collaborators" about justice.

We have enough problems in our hands. For example, recently Indian foreign minister visited Bangladesh and signed treaties with our elected officials, we should know more about that treaty. We should discuss and debate about our current crises.

I don't think most Bangladeshis would mind to see criminals getting punished. However allegations needs to be presented in a way that is acceptable to our courts and honorable judges.

So I request our government prosecution team to do their home work, we don't want to see any more lives lost over this issue. If we expect foreigners to respect us, we have to show respect to lives of our people IN our country.

Shalom!

First Thing Fast: Jamaat should declared illegal, because of it's
collaboration with the occupation regime in 1971 and directly organizing
Al-bodor bahin that  killed innocent people in Bangladesh, including the
Boddhijibis (1971)! Jamaat openly aided and abetted Genocide and
Mass-rapes perpetrated by the Pakistani occupation regime and it's army
in 1971 during our war of liberation. Jamaat has never apologized to
our nation for it's misdeeds in 1971 .....!!!

Badruddin Omar is right about the present Govt. passing the 15th Amendment in which অষ্টম সংশোধনী বাতিল না করে বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রধর্ম হিসেবে ইসলামকে বহাল রেখেছে  .  This is very unfortunate!  Omar argues, therefore, Jamaat cannot be declared an illegal political party.

But still, there is the Election Commision who has its own guidelines for Party formation, and about not using any religion, Islam or non-Islam, as a party platform to enjoy an unfair added advantage.
