আমার সামনে ২০০৮ সালের নির্বাচনের আগে প্রকাশিত আওয়ামী লীগের মেনিফেস্টো রয়েছে। সেখানে দলটি এবং তার প্রধান শেখ হাসিনা অনেক উন্নয়ন ও সংস্কার করার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন। কিন্তু গত পৌনে পাঁচ বছরে তার ধারে কাছেও তিনি যেতে পারেননি। উন্নয়ন ও সংস্কার তাকে গিলে ফেলেছে। তার যে অবস্থা তার সাথে ইংরেজী একটি ছড়ার যথেষ্ট মিল পাওয়া যায়।
ছড়াটি হচ্ছেঃ
' There was a young lady of Niger
Who smiles as she rode on a tiger
They returned from the ride
With the lady inside
And the smile on the face of the tiger.
অর্থাৎ নাইজারের একজন যুবতী মহিলা একটি বাঘের পিঠে চড়ে হাসছিলেন। যখন ভ্রমণ শেষে তারা ফিরল, তখন মহিলাটি বাঘের পেটের ভেতরে আর হাসি বাঘের মুখে।' পাঠকরা কি বলেন?
