During the Bangladesh liberation war of 1971, many Hindus (probably some Christians too) converted to Islam. There is no reason to believe that they did so out of love for Islam. As a matter of fact, that was not the time to think quietly about the merits and demerits of any particular religion. Obviously, they did it for saving their life. When the dark period of occupation was over, all the converts, however, reconverted to their original religions. In 1971, Khushwant Singh was an active journalist. Unfortunately, for some reasons this historical fact got unnoticed by him. His thesis needs to be re-written in the light of this historical fact.
