Please remember that Poet is a Greek word meaning creator. So any poetry
with divine flavor got the status of religion. When I read Geeta in my
early teens, I noticed an appendix called Geeta Mahamtya which began with
verses saying that anybody who would not read the appendix would be deprived
of the virtues(punya) of reading the text.
Notice how the tail wags the dog. Need I say more? Any one criticizing
militant Islam should also take notice of how 'Lord" Krishna inspires Arjun
to take up arms to fight. The insistence on Viswarupa(seeing the universe
in Krishnas mouth) leads me to believe that the literature was concocted
after Claudius Ptolemy. It is in no way contemporary to the Kurukshetra
war, if there was any.
Indian Philosophy was good in the time of Kapila Muni. Then the theists
took over and the dark age began. The Upanishad,e.g., criticizes the Vedas
as 'Aparavidya" inferior knowledge.
Theology and Philosophy should be seperated completely to have an unbiased
view.
