No, the days of progressive Americans being pushed and shoved as secretly nursing some "revolutionary anti-American philosophy" are OVER. This 2012 election win against Romney's Tea-partiers made it clear. We are not afraid of calling ourselves 'liberal' and patriotic -- like Senator George McGovern did in those days of anti-Vietnam War activism days. I was an undergrad at Washington Square College, NYU then, and had just graduated when the 1971 War of Aggression in the then East Pakistan broke out. The anti-Vietnam War crowd enthusiastically joined our rallies in front of the United Nations bldg to protest against US support of Pakistani military against the unarmed civilian population and in their desire for an independent Bangladesh. I remember with fondness and gratitude Eqbal Ahmed and Aijaz Ahmed of Pakistan joining us in support of our cause in those New York rallies.
This young girl has more guts than you do, Tarek. But that's no reason why you should be using her to serve your brown-nosing purposes. Leave her alone!
May be you need to reach out to those levels of fresh thoughts of idealism from where you began in Pakistan.
