Day 27: Shahbag Movement- Thousands accumulate at Bahadur Shah Park (Updated)

Dhaka, Mar 3 (Priyo.com): Thousands of people of all class joined the anti-hartal rally in the morning at the Gono Jagoron Moncho on the twenty-seventh day of the Shahbag protest.

Demonstrators at Bahadur Shah declared programmes on the historic 7th March- the day Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered speech in 1971- and on International Women's Day (8th March). ||

Youths chanted slogans and chorused the national anthem as they gathered at Bahadur Shah Park in the capital at 3:00pm.

According to the declaration on the previous day by the Blogger Online and Activists Network convener, Imran H Sarkar, the rally started at 11.00am from 'Projonmo Chottor'. With a tight security behind, the rally covered Dhaka University campus, along with Kataban, Nilkhet, Polashi, BUET, Chankharpul, Doyel Chottor and TSC area.

Not only the people who rallied chanted slogans against the three-day hartal, but they demanded capital punishment of war criminal Abdul Quader Mollah, and ban Jamaat-Shibir from politics.

Chhatra League president Badiuzzaman Shohag, Chhtra Union president SM Shuvo, JSD Chhatra League president Hussain Ahmed Tafsir, Chhatra Moitro president Bappaditto Basu, and many others participated in the rally.

Meanwhile, a permanent stage is being built at the Projonmo Chottor, to sustain the protest going on for 27 consecutive days.
