That is why I even shared the Islamic term for helping non-Muslim neighbors and members of community (Sadaqa/Sadqa).
You are right, we are not encouraged to finance idolatry but if an idol was destroyed under Islamic country, it is a duty of that state to offer full repair. As I said, under Islamic laws, non-Muslims have "Protected" status. Which means their lives and assets will have protection from the state.

I always say that religious beliefs even within a given religion vary. By this I mean that there are various levels of beliefs. A believer should aim at reaching the highest level. I am sure there are believers with the broader Muslim community who will not finance idolatry. We have to remember that helping Hindus and financing their idolatry are not the same thing. I am not sure what Khaleda Zia wants the Hindus to do with the money----rebuild the deities or buy food and medicine?
