Jinnah's statements in the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan in August 1947 contradict his statements for the campaigns for Pakistan, such as:
"If we take our inspiration and guidance from the Holy Quran, the final victory, I once again say, will be ours."
Who were these "we" that he wanted to be finally victorious. Were the non-Muslims of Pakistan also supposed to take inspiration and guidance from the Holy Quran? See more of his comments in the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6Kv63O6nDM
Do a simple Google search on "Jinnah on Islamic state", and you will find more about Jinnah. For example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secularism_in_Pakistan
Do the following statements of Jinnah, for example, sound like secularism?
"Pakistan not only means freedom and independence but Muslim ideology which has to be preserved which has come to us a precious gift and treasure and which we hope, others will share with us."
"I cannot understand the logic of those who have been deliberately and mischievously propagating that the Constitution of Pakistan will not be based on Islamic Sharia. Islamic principles today are as much applicable to life as they were 1300 years ago."
"When we say "This flag (Muslim League's flag) is the flag of Islam" they think we are introducing religion into politics - a fact of which we are proud. Islam gives us a complete code. It is not only religion but it contains laws, philosophy and politics. In fact, it contains everything that matters to a man from morning to night. When we talk of Islam we take it as all embracing word. We do not mean any ill. The foundation of our Islamic code is that we stand for liberty, equality and fraternity."
My Conclusion: I personally do not care who and what Jinnah was. My problem is with the degree of dishonesty surrounding him among many intellectuals of the subcontinent today. My bottom line is that when one uses religious hatred (or hatred of any kind) to accomplish a goal, he/she cannot expect his/her hateful accomplices to transform into civilized human beings for the world (or for his/her constituency/country).
