Re: [mukto-mona] Saudi Arabia - Britain's Mysterious Ally

Mr. Rahman

I am sorry that I upset you by asking you questions and challenging on some issues which I believe should be the norm in a debate.

1. You used the phrase 'criminal acts'. So F. M. Hussein committed a criminal act. For a crime committed the criminal has to be punished. Now you are using the word 'immoral' which seems to be appropriate.

2. In her book 'Mahabharater Maharanye' Pratibha Basu has portrayed Dharmaputra Yudhisthira as a villain. In 'Meghnad Bodh' Madhusudan has in the mouth of Ravana called Rama 'Raghaba bhikhari'. The Hindu society in general did not make big issues out of these.

3. By discouraging or acting against Shahbag movement by painting the same as an AL scheme and at the same time awakening the sleeping demon (the Hefazat movement) were the biggest blunders the nation made. A great possibility has been killed.

4. I know Hasina regime has made some amendments. But state religion, the Koranic ayat, and reference to Sharia are still there. It does not bother you, but it bothers many.

5. Bhagwan has special features also. So it cannot be translated into God. And hence American constitution is not secular. This is fanatical.

6. It is useless to argue over position of women in the Koran with a deeply religious person like you. I give up.

I am not Hindu but it is part of my value system not to insult other faiths. This is what I wrote. Rest is YOUR absurd imagination.

Frankly, I do not support Taslima's exile either. I rather debate her in public and expose her hypocrisy.

2. " For example, her mocking of the prophet in (Book names ka-Dokhondito)."
---If you really believe in freedom of the writers, I would ask you: Why does Taslima have to see the prophet of Islam the same way as you do? I think I have mentioned before that Pratibha Bose (wife of Buddhadev Bose) has seen Dharmaputra Yudhisthira (probably the most glorified character in the Mahabharata) as a villain. If Pratibha Bose were surrounded by people like you, she would have been in big trouble. False or True has to be determined by intellectual debates or in court if the court is not blind to a particular religion, not by being intolerant and calling Ms. Bose an idiot.

>>>>>>>>>> It is NOT a matter of interpretation. Rather out right lie. Hope you know the difference. She willfully distorted information about the Qurán. Anyone can open the book up and look up the English translation of it.

I do not recall what you said about Pabitra Bose and don't want assume anything on that.

3. "----so it backfired in a big way."
----It did because of people like you. You and your cohorts (BNP, Jamaat, JP, and many anti-liberation and anti-Indian intellectuals) did not support this great movement for various reasons. I don't know why you personally were against it given the fact that you want trial of the Jamatis and you believe in freedom of speech!

>>>>>>>>>> Nope. Vote taken place in different regions of Bangladesh. I did not say I was personally against it. I was against PROLONGING it for months. Which made it VERY unpopular to the PEOPLE of this country. Since you do not know me personally, I do not think you keep assuming things about me.

IN your country (IN the USA) they say, if you assume too much (Without verifying facts), you make an ASS out of yourself. Sorry to see you heading that direction. At least learn to be a little civilized, since you live in the USA.

If you do not have intellectual capacity to judge a person, kindly don't take that burden. Do what you are good at....

4. "I always say common people of Bangladesh prefer religion over not having one BUT they are NOT fanatics."
---You guys should have told the public that the projonmo chotwor was not about saying goodbye to religion, it was about securing highest punishment for the criminals. You still have time.

>>>>>>>>>>> I said a lot of things but did not say anything against to demand for justice at Shahbag. Do understand we have a court working on that issue and pro-liberation government monitoring over the issue. When you start with "You guys", I do not know what you are talking about. For sure, I have NOT said anything against the core demand for justice. It looks like the slightest difference of opinion forces you to come "Unglued" [ It is an American saying, ask your kids if you do not know what it means....]

Kindly don't lecture others to be tolerant. LEARN to tolerate peaceful differences of opinions BEFORE you expect that from others.

5. "Atheists can be atheists without making up stuff or insult other belief systems."
---I can assure you that most of the atheists are analytical and well read. They do not make up stuff. They say what they believe to be right. They are just like you. On the question of insult, I will say that it is a matter of taste of how they express themselves. I cannot endorse the way some of them express themselves given the fact our people in our country are religious and there vested interest groups who will instigate them. But I will not curse them. Let us not be intolerant and let them talk and let us be argumentative.

>>>>>>>>>> That is why I do not have much problem with most atheists. Just with idiots among them who are NOT secured in their atheist state of mind and have the absurd need to insult others to justify their non-belief.

Well you do not curse frequently like some idiots here. I'll give you that. But you have an issue of intolerance and personal attack (Without knowing much about that person). Hope you will have enough humility in you to understand your shortcomings and correct those issues. In most cases I do agree with your positions.

It is important that agreement comes voluntarily. It seems one has to agree with everything you preach (Starting with "You guys" and "you must" frequently).........

6. "To you your religion and to me mine".
----A great teaching in a multi-religious society. Ramakrishna Paramhansa has echoed it: "Joto mot, toto poth". But what would you say to those who want to go into the depth of the matter? They may challenge the very basis which is faith and the divine authorities. They may say, for example, that it is biased against women. They may say that many teachings need to be either trashed or reinterpreted. You can keep adding more and more. Don't you want to give them a space? Or want them to be extinct in the same way as the Charvak followers did?

>>>>>>>>>>>> This is a verse from the holy Qurán. So it is not something I say it lightly or take it lightly.

I do agree that, sometime it seems Islam is not respectful to women (To outsiders and some half educated Muslims). I have spent tons of hours on this topic and I am convinced that, Islam is fair to Both men and women. One of the greatest scholars of Islam (and who interpreted Sharia for Muslims) imam Abu Hanifa (RA) was well known for his eagerness to use logic, knowledge and rational way of thinking. So when you go a bit deeper into the philosophy you learn inner meanings of Islam.

It is the same way of Hinduism. To many non-Hindus, it does not make sense to pray to monkey, snake and even to lingam (Male private part). But to Hindus have some sort of explanation for such acts. While I do not agree with all the aspects but I have spent enough time to understand and respect that philosophy.

Islam is a global faith and more women are accepting Islam than men (Specially in western countries). So there must be a reason behind it. The fiction about forcing people to join Islam cannot withstand reality today.

So you do not want to translate the word "Allah" to "God" and insist on calling the American constitution non-secular! What a fanaticism!

>>>>>>>>>> Boy are you a little desperate today or decided to make an ass out of yourself? Let me know.

At every comment, you kept saying stuff that, I have NOT said. Saying Allah is unique has reasons behind it. Read the article and you will learn. Nothing to do with fanaticism. ;-)

8. "SHOW me how Islam became an "Integral part" of our constitution (Other than symbolic)."
----I think Islam is still the state religion. I think there is a clause that no laws will be against Sharia law. I think the ayat from the Koran is still there. Now you are saying "Symbolic". If you had the slightest respect for other religions, you would not have said that.

>>>>>>>>>> Not interested in your very disturbing way of "Thinking". You HAVE to supply FACTS this time. You did say, Sharia/Islam is an "Integral part" (Open up the dictionary what it means) of constitution. KINDLY quit babbling about what you THINK. I am not interested. You should prove your point or admit you thinking has more to do with FICTION than FACTS.

Sadly your "Thinking" is mostly driven by fiction and emotion. Just the opposite of what you claim.

I sincerely hope you will actually do some thinking before you say something. Otherwise you look very desperate and delusional.

Wishing you a nice day.

Shalom!
