Dr. Younus lost my respect like many over the years. He has proven himself on many oaccation that he is a self-serving smart man. He would have done great if he would have simply leave Grameen Bank after his tenure specially after losing his legal fight. These days he started this nasty political language and uttering such felthy language. No one expects these from a nobel laurate. What a disgrace!!!!

No technical support is provided, threats are used, assets are seized. And governments use microfinance to cut public spending on the poor and women, who are left to access expensive services from the private sector.' The Yunus phenomenon is, in short, a more pernicious contribution to capitalism than ordinary loan-sharking, because it has been bestowed with such legitimacy.>>

গ্রামীণ ব্যাংককে কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকের নজরদারিতে আনার সরকারি উদ্যোগের কঠোর সমালোচনা করে এ প্রতিষ্ঠানে যে কোনো হস্তক্ষেপ প্রতিরোধ করা হবে বলে হুঁশিয়ার করেছেন ব্যাংকটির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস।

বৃহস্পতিবার নগরীতে এক নারী সমাবেশে শান্তিতে নোবেল বিজয়ী ইউনূস বলেন, "আমাদের বলতে হবে, যে এটাতে হাত দেবে আমরা তার হাত ভেঙে দেব।"

গ্রামীণ ব্যাংক আইন সংশোধনের উদ্যোগ প্রসঙ্গে অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত নারীদের উদ্দেশে ইউনূস বলেন, "এটা কি আপনারা মানবেন?"

উপস্থিত নারীরা এ সময় সমস্বরে 'না' বলেন।

ইউনূস বলেন, "গ্রামীণ ব্যাংক রক্ষায় নারীদের এগিয়ে আসতে হবে। এ ব্যাংকের গায়ে কেউ যেন একটা আঁচড়ও না লাগাতে পারে।"

তিলে তিলে মহিলারা এই ব্যাংক গড়ে তুলেছেন মন্তব্য করে আলোচিত এই ব্যাংকার বলেন, "তারা তাদের জীবনমানের পরিবর্তন ঘটিয়েছে। শুধু তাই নয়, দেশকে নোবেল এনে দিয়েছে। আর এটা সরকার নিয়ে যেতে চাচ্ছে।"

১৯৮৩ সালে একটি সামরিক অধ্যাদেশের মাধ্যমে গ্রামীণ ব্যাংকের সূচনা হওয়ার পর থেকেই এ প্রতিষ্ঠানের ব্যবস্থা পরিচালকের দায়িত্ব পালন করে আসছিলেন মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস।

অবসরের বয়সসীমা পেরিয়ে যাওয়ার বিষয়টি উল্লেখ করে ২০১১ সালে তার এমডি পদে থাকা নিয়ে প্রশ্ন তোলে কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংক।

২০১০ এর ডিসেম্বরে নরওয়ের টেলিভিশনে প্রচারিত একটি প্রামাণ্যচিত্রে মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের বিরুদ্ধে গ্রামীণ ব্যাংককে দেয়া বিদেশি অর্থ এক তহবিল থেকে অন্য তহবিলে স্থানান্তরের অভিযোগ ওঠে। এরপর দেশে ও আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে ব্যাপক আলোচনা শুরু হয়।

এই পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে গ্রামীণ ব্যাংকের কর্মকাণ্ড পর্যালোচনায় একটি কমিশন গঠন করে সরকার। কমিশন সম্প্রতি তাদের প্রতিবেদন জমা দিয়েছে।

'আমি নাকি সুদখোর, ঘুষখোর'

ইউনূস বলেন, "৮৪ লাখ মহিলার গ্রামীণ ব্যাংককে সরকার দখলে নিতে চাচ্ছে। এজন্য সরকারের সঙ্গে দ্বন্দ্ব চলছে। সরকার আমার উপর আক্রমণ করছে। আমরা গরীবদের জন্য ব্যাংক বানিয়েছি।"

তিনি বলেন, "সরকার যেমন ইচ্ছে তেমন কথা বলছে। আমাকে রক্তচোষা, ঘুষখোর, সুদখোরও বলছে। অথচ আমি গ্রামীণব্যাংকের মালিক নই, আমি সুদখোর হলাম কিভাবে।"

গ্রামীণ ব্যাংকের সুদের হার সবচেয়ে কম দাবি করে তিনি বলেন, "সরকার নির্ধারিত সুদের হার যেখানে ২৭ শতাংশ সেখানে গ্রামীণ ব্যাংকের সুদের হার ২০ শতাংশ। আর আমি কি ব্যাংকের মালিক? সব মালিকানাতো দিয়ে দিয়েছি। চাইলে আমি শুরু থেকে এর মালিক হতে পারতাম।"

ইউনূস বলেন, "গ্রামীণব্যাংকে ২৫ হাজার ছেলেমেয়ে চাকরি করে, কারও চাকরির জন্য কাউকে এক টাকাও ঘুষ দিতে হয়নি। অথচ যেখানে সমস্যা আছে তা নিয়ে সরকারের কোন মাথাব্যথা নেই।"

নোবেলজয়ী ইউনূস সুহৃদ পরিষদ নামে চট্টগ্রামের একটি সংগঠন ঈদের পরদিন এ নারী সমাবেশের আয়োজন করে।

অন্যদের মধ্যে অধ্যাপক মু. সিকান্দার খান, চিটাগাং উইমেন চেম্বারের সভাপতি কামরুন মালেক, নারীনেত্রী জিনাত আজম, বেগম রুনু সিদ্দিকী সমাবেশে বক্তব্য দেন।
